This is a great list. Celeste and Jesse Forever affected me particularly, because my husband and I got married young. We were having issues similar to the film, and I thought about leaving because it seemed like things couldn't be fixed. I ultimately didn't, because we love one another and it was worth saving. My heart breaks every time I watch it, because I hate to think that I could have thrown away a life with my best friend and would have to see him move on with someone else because I gave up. Blue Valentine reminded me of my parents, so that one really gets to me as well. They managed to work things out, which makes me really proud of them. Also, I was surprised by how much I loved The Big Sick.

I'll give you most of these but Revolutionary Road is absolutely not romantic. not a single scene in the film is romantic. Seriously, this is the most depressing movie ever. But it's so good, and the acting is amazing! People say but really, do you honestly want a movie like this to be that good? Can agree with some of the others. 16, 15, 14, 6, 1. all amazing!

I watched La La Land with my sister a couple of years ago for the first time. I was shocked and sad over the ending. But I also admired how it went off the whole happily ever after cliche like many movies like it do. Its a really good and realistic story that has beautiful sets, costumes and songs.

Stop featuring Armie Hammer, please. I don't want to be that person, but is anyone else sick of seeing Call Me By Your Name on these lists? I do love me some Timothee Chalamet, but every time I see him I get physically ill. That's the only reason I don't want to see it added to these lists.

I will never understand how Vince Vaughn got a career and, more astonishing than that, KEPT it.
He plays himself in everything. He's not funny, attractive, cute, or engaging. He's the slacker in high school study hall who talked shit about everyone else. I'll never get it.

Call me by your name Novel was SO much better than the film adaption. The sequel find me is even more beautiful. The development, the writing and the characters were so much more fleshed out. While the film just felt rushed even with the actors

500 Days of Summer is so cute and adorable but yes it is relatable. I really liked it and like La La Land liked how realistic it was. One of the few movies where theres a one-sides love and they dont miraculously end up together in the end.

I hate to point this out, but the sheer age disparity underscores a lack of maturity in Call Me by Your Name that speaks to grooming. Furthermore, Armie Hammer dropping his baritone voice is reminiscent of Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs.

I think the Before Sunrise series as a trilogy in it's entirety is fairly relatable and realistic as it shows different common phases of most relationships and marriages.
Edit: You made it #1! Thankyou and wonderful choice!

I was hoping Like Crazy would be on this list. It was the first movie I watched, in a long time, that left me sitting on my couch in a daze. It's such a bittersweet film and well acted and shot, too

My now ex and i saw THE BREAK-UP together about 2 weeks before we solut- ending a 25 year marriage- to this day that moviemakes me ugly cry the entite last hour- its literally physically painful for me

Ok, I'm only to 11 & EVERY freaking movie except When Harry Met Sally has a crappy, depressing, sad ending! Thats NOT romantic.
When Harry Met Sally is one of the best romantic movies EVER!

Ugh no. This whole list is full of downers. I dont know why it's trendy to be unhappy but it's toxic to say only angsty melancholic breakup anger arguing relationships are realistic romance.
reply

You forgot to mention power couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds when they met on the set of Green Lantern and pretty much have a long blessed amazing marriage and four kids.
reply

Before the Marriage Story, theres this movie titled The Story of Us with Michelle Pfeiffer and Bruce Willis. Its too realistic and relatable. I was hoping to see it on this list too.

Thank you for giving credit to the minds behind these amazing movies. Ms Mojo has educated me on directors and screenplay writers and all sorts.

High Fidelity is a great film, but it's not a romantic comedy. It's a midlife crisis and resolution / character development plot.
reply

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone have the same wonderful chemistry that Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan did. I love watching them together!
reply

Wow I wasnt expecting La La Land here, actually my first thought when I saw the thumbnail was that no way it could be in the top.
reply

The Way We Were starring Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford is the best realistic romance of all time (in Kanye West voice )

I started this video and saw celeste and Jesse forever before fully watching this video I cried so hard but it was awesome

One Day should've, at least, made it to the top 3. Such a beautiful storyline and performances, makes me sob everytime.

Incredibly real is the movie Last Night (2010, with Keira Knightley, Guillaume Canet, Sam Worthington, Eva Mendes.

Say Anything. A serious and horrible omission on this list that is unforgivable. Don't be a guy, be a man.
reply

I know I didn't finish the video but I knew blue Valentine have 2 be there. I watch it and it's damn depressing.

I'll See You in My Dreams. Blythe Danner and Sam Elliott. Late in life romance that ends sadly and tragically.

Here is another one 5x2. It is about from the moment a couple meet to the day they sign their divorce papers.
