I think I can explain Artie's age situation. Let's say he was also born the same month and day as Kevin McHale (June 14th, since Chris Colfer and Kurt Hummel canonically had the same birthday, just different years. Let's also follow what they made his age to be: a junior in season 3 (17 years old. I'm assuming he's one of the older ones in his year but he still makes the age range. That means he would be a 15-year old freshman in season 1 which commenced year 2009. If you subtract his age from the year, his birth date would be June 14, 1994.
From what was revealed in the series, he got on an accident when he was 8 years old, which I would presume would be the latter half of the year 2002 (post-birthday. Then, the episode where it was addressed was called 'Dream On' and it aired May 18, 2010, which was still part of the 2009-2010 academic year. From the day of his accident in 2002 to May 18, 2010, there would at most be 7 years and 11 months, which he decided to round up to 8 years. If the accident happened in 2003, he might have just counted the number of years involved until the present which is also eight (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010. I know it's a stretch of an explanation, but it actually makes sense still.

In fairness to the writers with regards to Artie's calendrical age and which Grade (years) he should be in at School, one of two scenarios could have happened. Either;
Scenario 1; He was in a coma for a couple of weeks or months after the accident and his parents decided it was best he be kept back a year so he could catch up.
Or
Scenario 2; for a while after the accident he did have some movement in the lower body, so his parents got him to do physiotherapy. Unfortunately for some reason the neurologists can't explain not only does the physio not work but also the little movement Artie did have also vanished at around the same time he started going back to school. Now because he'd been having daily physio which wiped him out it was suggested (by the school authorities) that so he could catch up on the school he missed he should be held back a year

So, I have feelings.
Sam is ambidextrous, though right-hand dominant. The editing in Glee was HORRIBLE, especially the first season (and I know that Finn shout out is from the first season because Matt's there. Matt & Mike were all over the place when Mercedes was singing Hate on Me. Same for Santana. There are whole video commentaries of how bad the editing was for season 1. Yes, we all know that Rachel's dads werent the same guys. I mean, landing Broadway vets Brian Stokes Mitchell and Jeffrey Goldblum was amazing!
I'm not done with this video yet. Had to stop with Finn being in two places at once!
Oh, and we knew about Ryder, too!

#10 isnt a mistake. it just means that they ignored the list and kept performing as they wanted to. Because the e parents didnt have an issue after that, they didnt have to use the list.
#8 He changed his mind between the seasons.
#7 many shows change minor characters like that.
#5 thats not really a plot hole or anything lol, people forget things like that easily.
#3 simple. vocal lessons. Couldnt be too hard to help her out.
#2 She said it had been 8 years, he couldve been 17, depending on the date it happened. Simple.
#1 she couldve lied to them, I mean its Sue were talking about lmao.

Seriously! The age back track happened because the creators didn't know if the show would go beyond 3 years. Then it did, and they needed a couple of characters to anchor the viewers to the high school as they tried to bring in new cast members. We could have followed everyone to New York, but what would Will, Emma and Sue do (other than get married and be vanquished, respectively?
Ideally, if we loved Kitty as much as Quinn, this continual handing of the baton of new talent would have gone on for a decade. But the writing dropped, and we got episodes about puppets instead.

Teenagers ages and grades are always confusing like Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries, Riverdale etc. In PLL they're supposed to be 16 which means they would be on 10th or 11th grade but, they don't graduate till season 4 and Elena, Bonnie and Caroline are supposed to be 17 which would make them a 11th or 12th grader but, they don't graduate till season 4 and Riverdale's Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica and Cheryl are all supposed to be 16 years old which means they would be in 10th or 11th grade but, don't graduate till season 4 so, I feel like alot of shows do that

You left out a pretty big one. In season 2, Sue coached the show choir group Aural Intensity at Regionals. However, in season 6 when Sue beings to coach Vocal Adrenaline, she says she's never coached a show choir before despite that, as if the show just forgot. A pretty minor one as well is the show forgetting about Blaine's brother, Cooper. when Sue shows Blaine and Karofsky their online genealogy profile, Blaine's section doesn't seem to show Cooper at all, despite the fact that Sue, the person who made it, had met Cooper in season 3

Come ON. Millions of us left handed people end up playing guitar right handed. Being left handed does -not- mean you do eveything opposite, that is an archaic idea. And comparing photos from a pilot with later casting results? Mojo, shape. up. The pre-approved list couldn't contain Somebody To Love? Nor be amended without a pandering exposition? Honestly, who phoned in this broken However-record? Sugar Motta stayed and lip synched. Why is it so hard for U. S viewers to grasp subtext in their domestic productions!

Actually Artie being older but still a freshman season 1 makes sense because of he got into a debilitating car accident he probably missed a good deal of school and was likely held back. I almost was when I missed over a month in 3rd grade due to a seizure disorder and hospitalization but I was luckily ahead of my class. Also I always took Blaine saying Junior member to mean a younger member and that only seniors were considered Senior members, like freshman, sophomores and juniors were all junior members

Rachel's two dads def is my #1. But the way they were cast later in season 3 makes so much more sense than season 1. They're more attractive and actually look like a couple. Who the hell picked the first two on the locker? #6 cracked me up! Finn in two places at once You're def right about Sue's hair! I forgot about that. Quinn also mentioned in the season finale of season 2 that she had a secret plan regarding Finn and we never saw what that was.

10. The list was a joke. 9. It was set up for a joke. 8. he changes his mind 7. The recast her dads, it happens all the time. And everyone and their brother noticed. 6. every show makes mistakes. 5. every shows makes mistakes, 4. Not a mistake re-conned him just so he can stay in Lima and no one misses that change. 3. Actually her singing is joked about in season 6 after she is gone. 2. Again on purpose to keep him in Lima. 1. Sue LIES.

Wait.
Blaine being a junior member of the Warblers did not mean he was a junior. For a matter of fact, he was a sophomore. established by one of the junior Warblers still being at Dalton as a senior when Blaine was a junior. Sugar not being able to sing was a continuous joke throughout her time on Glee, including Santana & Britt's (and Kurt & Blaine's) wedding. FTR, Mercedes never had a solo in any of the competitions.

I get that Rachel's dad's look different but honestly it's just a recasting.
Blaine & Artie could have likely been held back for one reason or another.
Sugar may not be able to dance but she sure can dance.
I noticed the mistake involving Ryder right away when season 5 premiered however looking back I have a theory that Ryder decided to stay in glee club because he knows that's what Finn would have wanted.

9. I'm left handed, but I do use my right hand too. This could be the case.

7. Can never be explained.
6. WHAT
5. Maybe the color changed by the time.
4. maybe he stayed a year on the same class.
3. auto-tune
2. the chair adds a year

Ryder rejoining Glee club in Season 5 without explanation was due to a planned storyline that had to be dropped last minute after Cory Monteith's passing. Finn was supposed to be the one to convince Ryder to return to New Directions but sadly this never became a reality and with the show having to address Finn's passing early on this plot for Ryder seemed insignificant.

There could be a number of reasons Artie is a junior and not a seniyin season 2. His birthday could come late in the year or sonce he mentioned about being in a car accident je could have missed a year and had to make it up later depending on how bad the car accident was. Some schools allow you to go to school until your 21 if you have missing credits needed for college

Artie and Blaine can easily be explained, for one Artie couldve spent a lot of time in the hospital after the accident and also a while getting used to his wheelchair so he couldve been held back. Then Blaine mentioned he had been gay bashed and transferred to Dalton so there couldve have been a mistake with the transfer papers and therefore had to repeat his freshman year

The fact that it is impossible for any group (choir, acapella ext) to sing & dance a song & just magically blend proves NOBODY EXPECT A GREAT STORYLINE in the first place.
People just watch this for the song & it guest stars.
The series hired mashed-up songs writers not educated scriptwriters.

I feel like Sue's first hair story was genuine because we did not know about her sister, yet, and knowing now, that seems more plausible. Remember that Sue was always a gym teacher, so she would not have been wearing business suits or girly attire. I think she was just entertaining Becky.

Being a junior member of a society doesn't always mean you're in the junior class. At my school, being a junior member meant you were either freshman or sophomore. A senior member member was a junior or a senior. It was just a distinction between lowerclassmen and upperclassmen.

Another mistake Glee made was when Rachel said her dad's screen for sergeants before having her, but when we met Shelby, she said she was pregnant and answered an ad. For the rest of the season/series, they acted like Shelby gave Rachel up when that's not how sergeancy works.

My thoughts on ages:
Blaine - junior member meant like, underclassman
Artie - I feel like a severe accident like that would cause him to be in the hospital/rehab for a long time and he might have fallen behind in school (aka, 16 year old freshman)

I mean, I understand that the photos of Rachel's dads from the beginning didn't necessarily have to be the same people who showed up in person later on, but would it have been so hard to cast someone black? It feels like a missed opportunity.

The point about Artie is true, but it's possible that he was held back a year because of the accident. I have a good friend that has dealt with cerebral palsy all of his life an was held back twice because of medical reasons.
