Honorable Mention:
Oversaturation - Trolls World Tour
-Basically, the film's villain, Queen Barb, simply wants to make rock the dominant genre. The problem? Well, she chooses to go about it by hostile takeover and brainwashing all other trolls into rocker-zombies.
Now don't get me wrong, I, LOVE, rock and heavy metal! They're among my favorite music genres. But the film does highlight the issue of oversaturation in the music industry. When pop came along and exploded all over the place, rock seemingly died out. Although rock still had a dedicated following, It's place was almost always overshadowed by pop. And to be honest, is THIS what the music industry is supposed to be about? Destroying every other genre and creative outlet just so that YOUR genre can find success?

Shrek and Fiona being judged on looks was important by then, but in the 1995 THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME it was okay for Phoebus to be good because he was good-looking (in contrast to the source novel);
THE PRINCE OF EGYPT says it was wrong to enslave Hebrew in the Bronze Age (as opposed to Egypt's other subject nationalities) but shouldn't this be extrapolated to how the British Em; ire got super-rich on slavery and then that America's Founding Fathers were okay with it (apart from blaming it on the British in the Declaration of Independence) at a time that slavery had been banned in at least mainland Britain, m and subsequently doing away with the trade and ultimately the empire while even part of the USA hadn't got round to abolition.

Not only does DreamWorks make movies on serious topics, they also arent scared of controversy in their films.
Gobber from httyd is the first openly gay animated character ever and the creators arent afraid to admit that. They have many other lgbt characters AND workers which is a prideful way to express equality in comparison to for example Disney who even in present days wishes a happy pride month right before donating to an anti lgbt act.
They also removed Tuffnuts voice actor from the hidden worlds cast due to his hateful comments towards women
DreamWorks is proof that its not impossible to educate kids from their early days

The Prince of Egypt is what The Hunchback of Notre Dame is to Disney.
A more mature and darker storyline that realistically depicts serious issues. With Prince it's slavery with Hunchback it's prejudice and profiling. But, keep in mind that the former is a Biblical story found in the book of Exodus. I honestly think the filmmakers wanted to tell the story but make sure that it was something that could also appeal to children and adults. That's why I think The Prince of Egypt is DreanWorks' greatest masterpiece.

What breaks my heart about Spirits mistreatment is that Ive seen REAL horses being treated the same way. It was in the Agrodome, a stadium on Vancouvers PNE grounds where equestrian events take place. I was so upset by what I was watching I ran over to Playland to go on the rides just to cheer myself up. Its a good thing theres an amusement park like Playland if you need some cheering up

Are we sure animal welfare is the only important message of Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron? Not the, I don't know, enormous environmental message or the huge criticism of the USA military, Manifest Destiny and colonialism? Doesn't that sound a tiny bit more important than a message about animal abuse which can clearly be covered by Chicken Run, given that the next entry does just that?

I mean it wasnt just slavery that was addressed in Prince of Egypt. It tackled many issues including the discovery that the man who raised you committed such unspeakable acts as murdering infants (along with the realization that you couldve been one of those infants and he wouldnt have felt too sorry about it, about separation from toxic family members, etc.

Both Disney/Pixar have tackled serious issues and yet TURNING RED and Encanto get attacked and accused of being too mature for kids I think its because the both movies have females as the main character. When boys are the main characters, people dont whine as much and their behavior is seen as boys will be boys but a girl having her period, oh no!

Several things missed in this video:
1. Chicken Run is actually an allegory for the Holocaust
2. Antz covers the horrors of war in the most PG way possible
3. Shrek has elements of colonization) with the FTCs being kicked out of their homes and relocated to a subpar piece of land
Please add other things u think this video missed

maybe true serious issues but for chicken run it's more about endangering lives and turn into food in the end of the movie tweedy turns into a pot pie in other words some people might think turning animals into food in movies for younger viewers to see it turned me off when I watched it when I was younger it seems wrong

I agree with a lot on this list, but I wish that Joseph: King of Dreams stopped being overlooked. There are a LOT of complex problems in that story like slavery, family issues, trauma and forgiveness. I know it likely won't happen, but I'd like to see that movie on more lists because it is really good.

Mrs Tweedy was the worst business woman ever. If shed treated the chickens well, maybe theyd stop trying to escape and lay more eggs instead. And her meat pies wouldve been terrible. She threw a single, live, unplucked chicken into a pie-machine that cooked dozens of pies at once.

The Prince of Egypt is my favorite movie because it not only talks about slavery, but the cruelty and inhuman way they were treated. Disney's Song Of The South did the complete opposite by trying to water it down and shake it off as though it was no big deal.

9 Spirit's mistreatment? i think you missed the actual point of the movie. What you guys mentioned is surface level, but if you notice there's a lot of parallels between Spirit and the natives. Think of that next time you rewatch Spirit and you gonna cry.

Another underlying serious issue dealt with in Shrek: the fairy tale creatures are exiled from Duloc, forced to settle on Shreks swamp, where theyre not particularly welcome. This is the reality of thousands of immigrants and refugees in real life.

I'm surprised you didn't mention that the Tweeties farm in Chicken Run is a representation of a Nazi work camp and the chickens represent Jews or others who were taken captive in World War 2. That's some pretty dark stuff for a family film.

When I saw hiccups dad die I feel really SAD because lets face it, the only scene that was pretty much EQUAL to that was MUFASAS DEATH, in the lion king itself, and it feels like hiccups fathers death was in a WAY inspired by the lion king.

The Prince of Egypt was a great movie I remember seeing it in theaters when it was released in 1998, I was just in kindergarten when it came out, I cried when the soldiers threw the Hebrew babies into the Nile with the crocodiles

I don't care what any of you say, The Prince of Egypt is the best movie I ever seen in my entire life, tho the only flaw is that it was made for kids. Despite how dark it actually is. But that's the only flaw that exists in this film

Video's Like this one ought to be shown to anyone who thinks Animation is only for kids. Serious issues are important for Everyone. Children at the beginning don't understand everything about the films, they gradually see more.

You forgot trolls world tour. It was my favorite when I was 12. That movie tackled a serious issue which was racism. The six tribes were fighting with each other and that was supposed to represent racism.

Number 3 reminds me of when the English took over a quarter of Ireland, and when the Americans stole Texas from the Mexicans. Not to mention, stealing all the homelands from the Indians.

I love how shrek took on bullying and non-conforming beauty standards! I never wouldve guessed Over the Hedge was about environmental conservation. I just loved both of these as a kid

Spirit was not abused. It was the Army's job to break the horse for use in military service. Upon departure, it was nice to see Spirit and the Sergeants mutual respect for one another.

I adore Spirit! The horse just has this snarkiness to him that fits his character so well. Has me laughing the whole movie, and the SONGS! Literally know them all word for word.

Patrick Stewart did so well delivering what was such a grim line that you definitely realised that Seti was the villain, and Rameses was following a dark precedent.

As soon as I saw the video, I knew what would be #1. I also knew that Spirit would be on here somewhere. Even though it's low on the list, I'm just glad it's here.
