They usually sound peppy, but these pop songs tackled serious issues. For this list, well be looking at pop tracks that inspired change by shedding a light on important social topics. Our countdown includes Beautiful, XS, Paper Planes, and more! Which pop song do YOU think tackled serious issues the best?

What about Madonna? THE QUEEN OF POP? She has many like Papa Don't Preach, Live To Tell, Causing A Commotion, Spanish Eyes, Bad Girl, In This Life, What It Feels Like For A Girl, Basically the whole American Life Album, etc.
Michael Jackson's (THE KING OF POP) Earth Song, They Don't really care about us, Man In The Mirror, etc.
Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation, State Of The World, Black Cat, What About, Free Xone.
I think that the video has quite many random choices.

Linkin Park, One More Light and Queen, I Want To Break Free. Two songs meant to wake us up and see what we are doing to other people and wake up. We want to be free from the prejudice, greed, selfishness that has been shoved down our throats by people who just do not give a damn about everyone but them.

I love SAME LOVE and was able to hear it live at a concert. When the song started everyone cheered loud. I had just come out and this song helped me a lot. I am very happy that it is on this list! This song will always be special to me. Thank you for putting on the list!

When I was a teenager, I was having a hard time in high school. Music helped me a lot especially songs like Born This Way by Gaga, Firework by Katy Perry, and We R Who We R by Kesha. I dont think I would have made it through without those songs.

You Need To Calm Down by Taylor Swift is about respect and being able to take it easy on disrespectful people but its also about stopping comparing, everyone is good or bad at something, definitely thats serious to me.

I don't know why but I thought Where Is The Love by Black Eye Peas would make the list. And since Christina Aguilera was named, I would have also added her other songs that talk about this kind of serious stuff.

I am so happy to see M. I. A on this list. Shes criminally underrated. Literally all of her songs tackle serious issues and have deep meanings. I hope some day she gets the recognition she truly deserves.

There should definitely be some Nirvana songs on this list. Polly is about a real life incident where a young girl was abducted, tortured, and assaulted. They were ahead of their time by far

Rhythm Nation will always be the beginning of the greatest of the socially conscious minded Pop / Dance songs Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation: 1814 remains the greatest concept album.

Surprised that Union by Black Eyed Peas and Where Is The Love? By Black Eyed Peas never made it in this list. Also, Stole by Kelly Rowland should have made it into this list

Missing Rhythm Nation by Janet Jackson and They Don't Care About Us by Michael Jackson. MJ was singing about Black Lives Matter before the BLM movement had a name

I'm stunned that there was no mention of Rhythm Nation by Janet Jackson. The song. the album itself tackles serious issues that are very relevant to this day!

Until it happens to you by Lady Gaga. It is about SA. As someone whose been. this song always makes me cry but it is a good representation of what SA does.

Michael Jackson's Heal the World Will You Be There Black or White Man in the Mirror Earth Song or even Beat It would be great for another list.

Taylor Swift's 'The Man' should've definitely been there. Calls out gender inequality, double standards and the hate women recieve for dating

How is Sunday Bloody Sunday an honorable mention on a Pop list? They introduce a rock anthem and forget about Papa Don't Preach by Madonna

Funny that you placed Xtina beautiful last, while those songs who are in higher positions that have the same theme were just recently releases
