My Top 5 Favorite Disney Princesses
Honorable Mentions
-Cinderella (She's kind, sympathetic, relatable, and genuine)
-Jasmine (A smart and fun princess. Nothing more. Nothing less)
5. Elsa (She's a misunderstood victim who many treat her as a villain. But, in reality, she's a sympathetic person who was cursed with magical ice powers that's tormenting her, making her an interesting character)
4. Belle (She's smart, independent, but at the same time kind and genuine)
3. Tiana (This is a really cool princess. She takes the infamous follow your dreams lesson and turns it upside down by aknowleding that getting what you want in life doesn't come from wishing on a star alone. But, it comes from hard work, making Tiana more down to earth and realistic)
2. Anna (She's the princess I relate to the most. She acts and thinks like me, she's funny quotable, her relationship with Kristoff is alot of fun, and I dig her character growth in Frozen 2 because of how I relate to her)
#1. Ariel (The first proactive Disney princess to break away from classic princess trope, take it to a new direction, and is far from a generic, passive, and weak damsel who helplessly sits around waiting to be rescued (saving Flounder from a shark, killing Flotsem and Jetsem, and saving Prince Eric more than once, something that princess characters are infamous for. She's just as interesting as she is lovable and adorable and her beauty and voice also make me smile.

One relatable thing about Sleeping Beauty? Ill give you three.
1. Wondering when you will fall in love. Unlike a lot of other princesses or princesses to be, Aurora has spent her life thinking she is a commoner and is shut off from the world. By the standards of the day, she is eligible for marriage or betrothal. Her song I Wander reflects something that people who have been single for a long time ask; when will I be in love?
2. Special secrets; Aurora tells the woodland animals that she has had wonderful dreams about love (and I have a theory on this, and she keeps them from her Aunts (the good fairies. They are simply too good to share to anyone to come raining on her parade. We all have our secrets, silly and sordid, but sometimes they give us happiness when faced with unfortunate reality.
3. Maintain your skill set. Even though song and dance wont get you as far today, in the years of Sleeping Beauty the ability to sing and dance were quite prized. Aurora practices these skills (and no doubt some of her other homemaker skills expected of a woman, even a Queen) well worked and she is quite capable. No doubt her first lessons ended up with sore feet for everyone, but by sixteen she is quite accomplished in ballroom and opera singing. For anyone who has skills, natural or learned, it is important to keep them practiced so that you are ready for the time they are needed,

If Ariel abandoned her family, then so has every person who's moved out their hometown/gotten married/established their own life apart from their relatives. I also find it interesting that no one accuses or judges Hercules for doing literally the same thing. He gave up the goal he AND Phil had been working towards for years and chose Meg (who was double crossing him up til the middle of the movie) over being with his family who actually loved and missed him. As opposed to King Triton who was overbearing, hot headed and was ok with Ariel being unhappy until she finally left. The amount of criticism she gets is one-sided and ridiculous in my opinion.

There is a cycle Disney keeps on returning to all through its history -
1942-1949, the studio almost closes after the War, then comes. CINDERELLA.
1966-1988, Walt Disney dies, the studio has its dark age, then comes. THE LITTLE MERMAID.
2000-2010, studio shakeup, many directors fired, heads replaced, string of less successful movies, then comes. TANGLED; FROZEN; MOANNA.
All through its history Disney keeps going back to the Princess model whenever there's a shakeup or a slow period to revitalize their audience. Always going back to their first big hit.

My fav princesses are: Elsa, Rapunzel, Tiana, Mirabel, Anna and Mulan because her personality: adventurous, dreamy, friendly, independent and fighter. The princesses are a great model that Disney created to inspire us, and I like the evolution they have had since the first in her dreams and personality; going from wishing for a prince charming, then there are princesses who did not have a prince charming as first objective and have other dreams of adventures. and later on no longer having romantic interests, but also teaching the love of friends and family

I like Rapunzel from Tangled (2010.
Rapunzel from Tangled (2010) is one of the 5 characters that uses a frying pan as a weapon like Toad from The Super Mario Bros Movie (2023, Conker the Squirrel from Conker's Bad Fur Day (2001, Peach from Super Mario RPG (1996) and Paula Jones from Earthbound (1995.
Rapunzel from Tangled (2010) is one of the 3 Disney Princesses that is barefoot along with Pocahontas from Pocahontas (1995) and Moana from Moana (2016.

I remember watching Cinderella with my sister when I was very little and I felt in love with Cinderella and her compassion & beauty. I remember laughing and feeling so bad for her at the same time when Lucifer messes up her cleaning when she's singing the Nightingale Song. I love the animation with the bubbles and the lighting on that scene. And you just can't feel but happy for her when she finally gets her dream come true
reply

Forget what the media says about Cinderella, she remained brave, strong, smart and intelligent and did not rely on a prince to save her because she does take initiative to free herself from the abuse. Not to mention she save the mice and they saved her in return
21: 22 Its the voice of Captain Hook who later did the model reference and test recording as King Stefan in Sleeping Beauty, Hans Conried! Why am I not surprised!

I'm male. And Princess Jasmine, Moana as well as Anna are the one princess I can relate to.
For Jasmine, I make decisions on who I love even though people won't be happy and I'm definitely not a prize to be won. And I break the rules sometimes in order to get or do whatever I want.
Moana: I find strength in people that inspired me to do better.
Anna: I'm not a morning person and I'm an eccentric person.

I am SO tired of the idea that the princesses who find love with a prince have no value. Like I get it. Meeting to marriage in a matter of days is dumb. But love in any form is a gift and I personally love a good romance story. There is nothing wrong with love in someone's life as long as it is not the only thing that someone's life centers around
reply

I can't wait to see who on it
I love Emma Watson as belle, and noami Scott as jasmine and the girl who played Ariel in the live action I don't know her name in real life
Belle Aurora jasmine and Ariel are my favorite Disney princesses because I don't think Elsa Anna and Meg from Hercules are Disney princesses but I like them too

reply

Jasmine was my favorite for a while, an independent woman with a desire to see the world outside the palace, but nowadays, I'd say it's Tiana. Being so overworked nearly 24/7 in order to make your dreams come true is a struggle I go through everyday. It's characters like her that remind me how much it's worth it.
reply

In all honesty when talking about all the outfits and what we would want in our closets I immediately thought about Ariels nightgown I dont wear dresses at all yet that night gown I would and wish you could have mentioned that too - it looked so comfy
reply

Ariel will always be my favorite! You know it would be interesting for the future, I sure would like to see a Disney princess that has autism or special needs to be part of the Disney Princess franchise. To represent inclusion and diversity.
reply

Oh come off it ladies. All this I don't have to wait for my prince stuff is just cause you gave up on your prince.
Don't lie. I know girls who worked hard and the moment a guy shows up.
BUH BYE

I definitely related to Belle the most growing up, since we were both bookish Daddy's Girls who yearned for more. I also resonated with Ariel, for similar reasons, and Tiana, for her hard working attitude.
reply

I kind of relate to Belle a little bit I would usually just read my book at lunch during junior year when I didnt have that much friends and some of classmates will mumble about me how I, m always quiet.

One of my favorite franchise of all time. I love these girls so much, and the movies are iconic. My favorite Princess is Aurora: she's so beautiful, especially her purple eyes she's underrated.
reply

I love Belle for our shared love of books, I'd swoon if someone gave me a library of that size!
But as Disney characters I relate to the most: I'm a combo of Sullivan and Mike Wazowski

reply

Princess Jasmine is my favorite! Not only is she exceedingly beautiful, she has a very kind and wonderful personality! I hope my future significant other turns out a lot like her!
reply

Aurora is my favorite. I dont care what people say about her or her seeming passivity. She is an icon of royal Grace and simplicity and we need more of that in this world.
reply
