Here are several things -
1. I HATE Raoul with a passion.
2. I wish Raoul died at the end.
3. I LOVE Erik.
4. Christine should have chosen Erik.
5. Erik should have killed Raoul. That would have made me so happy.
6. I am so glad that in Love Never Dies, Christine is smart and makes the right choice by choosing Erik.
7. I hate that she dies at the end of Love Never Dies.
8. I love that she dies in Eriks arms, though.
9. It makes me so happy that Erik and Christine kiss in her dressing room in Love Never Dies.

You should do a top 10-20 performers who have played the Phantom, including during tours. Ideally, top performers worldwide (Broadway, West End, international productions. there are so many good ones, and you could use a combination of singing, acting, etc. to determine which performers ranked higher. Like Gary Mauer has great vocals, Peter Karrie made fantastic acting choices, Earl Carpenter has one of the most nuanced performances, Ethan Freeman is one of the most accurate to Leroux's novel, and so on.

My first musical love from when I was 10 and my father got the cast recording on his 40th birthday. I've seen it a couple of times in Sweden and on Broadway, but a trip to London is not complete unless I include a visit to Her Majesty's Theatre, where I took my father for his 70th birthday last year.
My favourites are the Point of no return, All I ask of you, Phantom of the Opera and the Finale (inexplicably ranked 12th here.

First heard Phantom on a taped recording a family friend had put together. Fell in love with it almost immediately and in the early years of the 21st century, my sister took me to see it as a gift. Absolutely loved it and also loved the movie when that came out a couple years later, even though every review said it was lacking. Sorry to hear that it's closing, but overjoyed that it existed.

I would put Wondering child way above Magical Lasso, but I love your comments with each pick. By the way, am I the only one who is annoyed when Christine says: Father is dead, Raoul, and I have been visited by the Angel of Music. And Raoul only goes: sure, let's eat.
Her father is dead and all he thinks about is supper? For me, one of the most important reasons to be Team Erik.

My Mom has seen Phantom of the Opera play once. When Robert Guillaume was the Phantom. She also has the soundtrack from the original with Michael Crawford. She likes to say that Michael Crawford is a loving passionate Phantom. While Robert Guillaume was an angry Phantom. They are her Favorite Pahnotms. She's really picky about other Phantoms.

Farewell Phantom, what a wonderful run.
Personally I would have ranked Down Once More higher because of how beautifully it meshes all those melodies together for such an emotional finale, but Music of the Night is also (imo) the most gorgeous song ever on Broadway. Every time I saw it performed I was in tears.

Wandering child has always been my favourite. It comes at the perfect moment after the climax of Wishing you were somehow here again. The first notes of Wandering child always reduce me to tears. Seeing Christine's fragility and the Phantom's love for her in this song just hits me in the feels.

down once more is absolutely cracked, especially live, and towards the end with christine, the phantom, and raoul singing over each other. it's definitely one of my favorites as is angel of music, wishing you were somehow here again, point of no return, and music of the night

It's amazing how even when I'm not WATCHING it I can immediately tell which clips are from that horrible 2004 movie. It's like no one could sing.
Anyway. Music of the Night will ALWAYS be my favorite song. As long as it's sung by someone who has the voice for it.

Phantom of the Opera was the third musical I saw growing up. It was a touring group that came to my hometown. I dont know how many times I begged my parents to let me go with them (I was 10, but Im so glad they said, Yes! Almost immediately, I was hooked!

I have seen the show more than a dozen times including NYC, London's West End, and I saw Paul Stanley in Toronto. But the best was in Copenhagen in a 300 yo theater and it was sung in Danish. and All I Ask of You in my favorite.

Sierra and Ramin are my fave Christine and Phantom and was it was the first version of PotO I saw! I had the lucky chance to see Ben and Emily as Phantom and Christine on Broadway before it closed. Worth every penny!
reply

I grew up going to Broadway shows, but none affected me as deeply as seeing Michael Crawford in Phantom. I took my children to see it years later, and now my granddaughter loves it. I am so sad that it is closing.
reply

Can you imagine being the final phantom for broadways run and sing the last part its over now I cant imagine not crying listening to that if I was there. Putting every last bit of you into the last bit.
reply

The only thing I regret is never having a chance to see poto personally, especially with Sierra and Ramin playing the main roles. I am totally obssessed with this musical and with Rierra combo. They are perfect

My 8th grade teacher introduced us to the Phantom by reenacting the scenes for our school plays. It was the first play that ignited my love for theatre. Think of me and point of no return are my 2 favorites!
reply

While I'm sad I never got the chance to see it live in NY, there's still some solace in the fact that the show still endures in other parts of the world. My favorite song will always be the title theme.
reply

I saw Phantom on Broadway in the early 90s with my high school concert band. It was my first Broadway show and will always hold a special place in my heart. What a magnificent run.
reply

I'm sad that he is over for good, but I still have a mask from Amazon to remember him just like Wandering Child and Bravo Monsieur, those songs almost made me cry but it was beautiful.
reply

My favorite song from Phantom of the Opera is the title song. To be honest, though, my all time favorite songs are the ones Erik (Phantom) and Christine sing as duets and solos.
reply

I have written a letter to Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, asking him to find a new Theatre for Phantom to perform out of! Why Phans will come from near and far, once more!
reply

Gotta say Thank you to MsMojo for using footage from the stage show, especially the 25th anniversary instead of just that (god-awful wreckage) that was the 2004 film
reply

Thank You Phantom i saw it in Toronto May 26th 1999 and Paul Stanley (yes, that one, he likes to rock and roll all nite and party every day) was amazing!
reply

I must be one of the few who doesnt really like the song music of the night instead I prefer all I ask of you, angel of music and the phantom of the opera
reply

wandering child is criminally underrated imo, especially with all 3 characters singing. all I ask of you and point of no return are probably my favourites, though
reply

Phantom is not a baritone. It's a tenor voice. While some with deeper registers have played the character very rarely is it actually sung by a true baritone.
