Highlander Season 5 Finale was pretty shocking to me. Duncan kills Richie thinking he was the demon Ahriman. The storyline itself wasn't great but that moment where Duncan is fighting Ahriman posing as Ritchie. Then the real Ritchie shows up and Duncan takes his head instantly and then he realises what he's done when the quickening comes.
Farsccape Season 4 Finale. We know the show had been canclled, so this was the final episode of the series. So when, John proposes to Aeyrn while on a dinghy when out of nowhere we were lulled into a happy ending. The spacecraft comes out of nowhere shots them both. They turn into a solid goo and then crumble into little pieces. With Dargo on Moya shouting NOOO! Luckily we got The Peackeeper wars to bring John an Aeryn back, but until we found out that the miniseries exists, the apparent deaths of John and Aeryn was what we were left with.

Before streaming services and the internet, Star Trek fans went through a very painful, agonizing event known as The Summer of 1990. An entire summer filled with agony that began with the line, Mr Worf, Fire! followed by a quick fade to black and the most terrifying To Be Continued. screen in television history. The end of the first season of Queer As Folk (US) was TRAUMATIZING! Having to wait to find out what happened to the person who was bashed crushed my soul when I was a teenager. At that point I had never been as invested in a show and it's characters as I was then. Fortunately it was the very first show I binge watched because showtime was running a marathon before the new season so I only had to wait a few weeks to find out instead of the year other people had to wait.

Diagnosis Murder Obsessions part 2 the season 5 finale ends with Mad Bomber Catlin Sweeny blowing up Community General with Mark and his allies inside, leaving fans with 4 months to wait to see what happens

So many great cliffhangers, and not one mention of Twin Peaks - season 1 ended with shocking cliffhanger, maybe the first with such a reach in that time, but season 2 ended with a cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers - one that lasted for 25 years and made the fanbase to resurrect the show for season 3. which ended with another cliffhanger (I'm David Lynch, bi, get used to it.

Fun fact: Ross originally wasn't suppose to say Rachel's name instead of Emily. It was David Schwimmer himself that messed up the line and they thought it was funny so they kept it in. Lol Also Buffy's death isn't really a cliffhanger because that was meant to be the series finale. It was UPN that decided to bring it back for 2 more years.

I was shocked when Addison showed up on Grey, s Suddenly and it was revealed that Derek was. Married.
True blood as full of Cliff hangers the reveal of Sam being a Shapes bitter wasn't even the most shocking one in my opinion.

What about The Royals season 4? I watched it after learning the show had been cancelled after season 4. When the credit rolled, I literally threw a pillow at the TV and was so upset for a few days. I still get upset when thinking of it or rewatching the show. Never seen a bigger cliffhanger in a show.

I think Power has the biggest plot twist because think about it: The girl Lauren who dated the main guy Tariq who was supposed to be dead but turned out she was alive I nearly passed out because she was supposed to be dead and I was sitting in front of my TV with my dad and my mouth flew open

How can you not include Star Trek TNG Best of Both Worlds episode where Picard was turned into a Borg and Riker says FIRE?

I feel this is what we are missing now, we have streaming if there is a cliffhanger it will be just resolved because you can see the next episode straight after. These cliffhangers was what tv was all about the anticipation now there is none

BtVS S5 wasn't a cliffhanger. Like all other seasons it was a great idea for a seasonal ender if the show never got picked up again, but fans knew it would be because it was big news that it switched stations due to distribution rights.

When it comes to Game of Thrones cliffhangers, I'd say Jon Snow's death takes the cake. And there are a couple more you left out. Chuck gets shot - Gossip Girl season 3 ending. And Captain Flint finds the gold - Black Sails season 1 ending.

24 was full of them, but the way season 5 ended was huge. Jack being kidnapped by the Chinese and the last image the cargo ship he's on on his way to China was a massive slap in the face after what was the best season of the show.

I honestly think the season 2 episode of Lost, Dave, has a killer cliffhanger. Revealing that Libby was in the mental hospital with Hurley was crazy just to not expand on it in 4 seasons.

WB did Buffy dirty. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was moving to UPN so they advertised that cliff-hanger as a series finale not season finale. They hoped it would tank at UPN.
