What about Demi lovato? shes the best example for fame and money dont buy happiness, only by reading the title I thought she was gonna be mentioned and I even thought shes gonna be number 1, the woman has been literally suffering her whole entire life, it has been a nightmare for her since she was a little child and also Selena Gomez? I feel like fame has something to do with troubled lives, other than the pressure of Hollywood, people make up wrong rumours attacking you and you keep getting hate over something thats not even true and annoying paparazzis everywhere following you all day long and relationships can also be fake, someone loves another but the other doesnt feel the same way but they go for it because itll get them attention, thats love for famous people if you hadnt recognised that already, I feel bad for them though, this is supposed to make them happy but sadly it didnt, keeping up with celebrities is exactly why I dont wanna be famous, I think if people stop making untrue rumours and paparazzis give celebrities personal space and celebrities stop letting fame get into their love lives and date the one they genuinely love without thinking about attention, they would be happier doing what they love but unfortunately, Hollywood cant help what it is, its how it works so I dont think this is ever going to happen

Jennette McCurdys story is really sad. Ive been reading her book and listening to her narrating it and its so sad how her mother made her become an actress and abused her like that I met her at CAPITOL RECORDS. In 2011 when she was on CAPITOL RECORDS Nashville. They were doing a filming for the Food Network show cupcake wars to celebrate the release of her country music album not that I am a big fan of country but her music that she did was pretty amazing. Her songs were pretty good generation love was a good song, but my favorite was put your arms around someone about getting hugs and I was lucky to be able to see her there too when they were doing a filming for it I still watching on Sam and cat and iCarly from time to time, its so sad what she went through and Im so glad that she doesnt have to go through that anymore. I know she doesnt want to do the iCarly reboot and Im sad she wont get a star on that but either way she will always be my child for playing Sam Puckett.

I wish I could talk about everyone on this list, but I would say that one of the young actors that had it worse than anyone else is Jackie Coogan. That boy was forced to become an actor by his mom and how did she thank him for all he did? She took all his money for herself, cut him out, kicked him out and forced him to give her more, and make sure that the family lawyer was her husband so she didnt have work a day in her life in eat her sons Fortune. As bad as I feel for Jackie Coogan, Im glad that he was the person that inspired the Coogan law.

Im surprised Wil Wheaton wasnt on the list. His new book talks about the abuse at the hands of his parents, especially his father, as he was jealous that Wil was the one making all the money and supporting the family.
He wrote an email telling both his parents about how his childhood was and what they did. His mother took several weeks to respond. His father took months. The text line read, Your Mother Says I Should Email You.

All I can think about is how these poor kids put their life on the line to entertain us. We didn't know what they were going through behind the scenes as kids because we were kids ourselves, we just watched them on TV and thought that they were having fun. In most interviews that's what they were taught to say It's really fun! but in reality it wasn't it was a struggle for them just to make it through life.

Parents who are thinking of putting their kids in the world of show business should watch this. The same thing goes for kids who dreams about having a taste of the Hollywood glamour. One needs to think if a normal life is worth sacrificing for fame and fortune.

I read Jennette's book and had to keep from crying. To read everything she went through with her mother and being in the spotlight and dealing with Dan Schneider, along with other issues is just heartbreaking. I'm happy she's enjoying her life now.

It's wild when you think about the entertainment industry - adults write and direct these scripts, which are stories with playacting - and to use children without properly seeing to their care and development is so sad and neglectful.

After reading Jeanette McCurdy's autobiography, I just want to give her a huge hug for all that she had to contend with between her Stage Mum and The Creepy Creator. She seemed to like playing the Bad Girl, but little did we know.
reply

I'm absolutely shocked that Demi Lovato was never once actually mentioned in this video.
She had a very hard time in the spotlight and behind the scenes too.
Why wasn't she at all mentioned?
She's my girl as well. :(

I picked up on the fact that you didn't say number one before the last entry. Classy little leave-out vs. other top ten and ranking videos. I get used to your rhythm of these, and I found myself alert before your last one. Good job.

At least other child stars who didn't have trouble because they remained active over the years, such as Raven-Symone, Melissa Joan Hart, Michelle Trachtenberg, Danica McKellar, Joey Lawrence, Miranda Cosgrove, etc.

This list could be a hundred people long now they make underage actors have a financial advisor so they can avoid this fate I never could understand how parents could ruin a child's life so extremely
reply

Very very great epic list I like it a lot very very great job mis mojo one of my absolute favorite list ever I feel very bad for a lot of them but at least a lot of them are doing a lot better now
reply

Alot of mental issues that these actors suffer from could of been stopped by people not always following them around with cameras when they aren't working and let them live their lives in peace.
reply

I am such a huge MacCaulay Culkin fan since the Home Alone days and I am so glad that he has found some peace and stability in his life and now has a family in Brenda Song and his two children!
reply

Gary Coleman was one of the worst cases. Ripped off by his parents. There should be some form of oversight of their money until they are mature enough to manage themselves
reply

The tale of Judith Barsi is nothing short of tragic. She had such a promising career ahead of her, only to be taken from us far too soon. May she rest in piece.

I loved theater and my parents encouraged me but I didnt have to support them either. I know many who were and hated it and quit. They were really talented too so sad
reply

You forgot Natalie Wood. She suffered when her Mother made her do things she didn't want to do, the ordeals with the casting couch.
reply

I would add Margaret O'Brien (Meet Me in St. Louis, the Bad Seed) to the list as well as Elizabeth Taylor and Natalie Wood as children. KDM
reply

I so appreciate you not ranking these. All of their lives were awful and dont deserve to be ranked. They all deserve our sympathies.
reply

I think it's safe to say that at least 50% of child stars have lived troubled lives. Fame isn't good for someone so young
reply

about judith barsis father, hell is full of people like him
(reason for the airquotes is because that man is a monster)

reply

Do you know Shirley Temple became a goodwill ambassador? After her fame Of course, she is the exception not the rule.
reply

Brooke shields and Drew Barrymore had seriously effed up lives because of their stage moms much like Macaulay Culkin
reply

The song that Anne Marie sang was sung by another actor because Judith Barrsi couldnt sing the song without crying
reply

I don't know if anyone else agrees with me, but I think Corey Feldman looks a little like Charlie Sheen
reply

Its tragic indeed. Pushing a child into pressure and then stealing money from them belittling them
