I worked in health insurance billing for about 15 years. PBD is a little off here. What he described as surprise billing is not how the term is used. Surprise billing is when a patient receives a bill long after the date of service. I personally would fight any charges that are billed after 1 year since the date of service. Every patient has the right to ask for an estimate of charges before they see a doctor, but there's no way to prepare anything beyond an estimate of services because it is unknown exactly what services will be rendered to you. After the visit, every patient has the right to request an itemized statement showing what they were charged for and how much.
It is true that a facility can charge whatever they want but that doesn't mean that's what they get paid. Payment is based on what was agreed to in the facility's contract with the insurance company. So insurance only pays on the amount they allow, not the amount billed. The provider has to write off the remaining charges.
PBD was absolutely right about Medicare and Medicaid. I specialized in Medicaid billing and nearly every time it was the payer after Medicare I had to write off the entire balance remaining. We didn't even bother billing Medicaid because it would come back with a denial stating Medicare (which also includes huge write offs) already paid more than they allow.

#7: Yeah, the duet is necessary IF there's no solo version available, but Diana Ross sang the song SOLO on her 1981 solo album, Why Do Fools Fall in Love. If that version is available in the karaoke selection, then you can do it.
#5: Pretty much ANY song by the B-52's needs to be done in a duet format. If it's not Kate and Cindy's vocals bouncing back and forth, then it's the girls and Fred's vocals bouncing back and forth.
#3: Another song that can be done solo IF the version's available. The Bee Gees did the song twice: Once, in a live version with Barry handling the solo vocal (Robin and Maurice did backing and harmony vocals) and another version in a studio recording with Robin handling the lead vocal. And, Barry does have a solo version (he did demo versions--as guide vocals--of many of the songs he and his brothers wrote for Barbra Streisand, Dionne Warwick and Kenny Rogers. So, again, a solo version IS possible if the karaoke selection includes it.
#2: Donna Summer did a solo vocal of A Whole New World on Dave Koz's At the Movies album.

Mariah Carey & Luther Vandross did Endless Love justice, but the original was so good.
I think Brandy & Monica sounded close enough that Im sure some would be able to pull it off; the little back & forth, if I recall correctly, only lasts no more than 30 seconds, I think! So if someone wanted to do it, Im sure they could.
I really liked Broken by Seether & Amy Lee. Shes got such a beautiful & haunting voice, it really set the tone for that song.
Other duets difficult to do alone:
-Under Pressure by Queen & David Bowie was fantastic!
-Aint No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell
-Tell Him by Streisand & Dion (this is more due to the fact that most ppl cant sing like those two LoL)

Some of these songs are iconic because there isnt anything before or since. I am saying this out of love and not jealousy because I cant sing like that but the bigger the star the bigger the promotional entity comes into play. Are they good absolutely, are they the best maybe for that time. If its sung well with a great delivery to the proformance is. So it will still with us because of sound rather then who actually sang them

Where's Bring Me To Life by Evanescence (feat. Paul McCoy of The 12 Stones? Trying to sing both parts is hard enough! Trying to sing and rap both Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda's verse in Linkin Park's In The End is a challenge but totally worth it. And both the male and female verses in Positive K's I got a man.

Say Something by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera should have been on this lists. First, Its not an easy song to sing since It requires quite emotional way of singing, soft tones, and most importantly the falsetto way of singing by Xtina. Just give me a reason should also be on the list by NAS and Pink.

Not exactly a duet in the regular sense, but In The End by Linkin Park is not a song to be sung solo. There isn't toooo much overlap in the lyrics, but switching between the chorus and the verses will leave you out of breath

I'm surprised No More Tears (Enough is Enough) by Barbra Streisand & Donna Summer didn't get a mention on here. I tried doing that one solo at a karaoke place one day, and I was damn near out of breath by the end of the song

I've tried to sing A Whole New World by my self before, but let's just say my Aladdin voice is much better then my Jasmine. And the parts where they overlap just can't be done justice with only one voice.

The hardest one for me was getting both parts down of Regulate by Warren G featuring Nate Dogg. Some duets are impossible doing both parts if you cant hit the high or low notes depending on your voice.

I could see somebody singing a couple of these solo if they were up on stage singing to another person. Or as a goof. Otherwise, I dont know why anybody would ever sing any of those by themselves.

I tried to karaoke All 4 One I Swear once, my music teacher said it probably wasn't a good idea because I need 3 more people
But I gave it a go and thought I did great.

Paradise by the Dashboard Light is absolutely the hardest song to karaoke, even as a duet. I tried and failed miserably. Plenty of laughs, though.

Two things, first, Islands in the stream has to be the most annoying song ever, and second, NO ONE can sing as well as Lea Salonga.

Similar to A whole new world some linkin park songs are difficult to sing solo to. I'm kinda sad it wasn't in honorable mentions

I can sing both parts of A Whole New World and when they overlap I typically go with Jasmine's part because it's prettier.
