Yep. #1 had to go to Streisand, and for reasons beyond her Best Actress win for her film debut. The film was a huge success--the top grossing movie of 1968. The soundtrack would reach #12 and remain on Billboard's Top 200 chart for 108 weeks. (In spring of 1964 the Broadway version would chart at #2. That fall Streisand's People album would go to #1 and the single to #12, giving the film a built-in hit song associated with Streisand before she'd even been offered its lead role) The film version served to seal-the-deal and make the association between Streisand and Funny Girl singular and enduring. It would be over 50 years before a revival would see Broadway, almost failing until Lea Michele, an actress and singer who evoked Streisand after spending seasons on the hit series Glee building that evocation (not only with Streisand, but specifically with Funny Girl, was able to step in, save it, and carry it to some modicum of success.

Because of the nature of the thing, this is at most an honorable mention, but Jonathon Groff as King George in Hamilton. He'd already left the cast when they filmed it and he came back specifically so they could do the original cast. Hamilton is a bit of an odd duck in this lineup because it was filmed as a theater production, but they did do some filming that couldn't have been done if they hadn't filmed without an audience for part of it.

I do feel that both Gary Beach and Roger Bart should have at least been mentioned when talking about the Producers, seeing as they also reprised their roles for the films. Especially when they were both nominated for the Tony for them, (with Gary Beach winning)

While Ben Platt was amazing at playing Evan Hansen on Broadway, he probably should have allowed Andrew Barth Feldman, who also played the character on stage, to step into the film, since he was 18, and had both the experience and youthful appearance.

So we are going to ignore Renee Rapp who played regina in the Broadway show mean girls and She reprised her role as Regina for the Musical movie adaptation of mean girls who should have been in the list In my opinion

The execution of the 'cast then and now' concept in your video is absolutely outstanding, immersing us in the bygone era of 1960s Hollywood and then offering an intimate and moving glimpse into the lives of these actors today.

I would also add Topol in Fiddler on the Roof, John Raitt in The Pajama Game, William Daniels and Ron Holgate in 1776, Vivian Blaine in Guys & Dolls, and Ethel Merman in Call Me Madam

I'd add William Daniels in 1776. To you he may be Mr. Feeny, but to me he'll always be the definitive John Adams, as that was the first thing I ever saw him in. He's excellent!

Rex Harrison makes My Fair Lady. It's one of my all time favorite movies. Robert Preston also embodied Harold Hill. Matthew Broderick's turn as the Music Man was embarrassing.

Yul Brynner for the king and I should’ve been on this list.
Other honorable mentions
Bea Arthur Mame
Rosalyn Russell Auntie Mame

Tim Curry is THE Frank N. Furter. While many other talented performers have stepped into his shoes, Curry's is the most iconic portrayal.
