love the golden girls, but the only thing that would have made all these 80s and 90s shows would have been not 100% het characters. we only ever existed as the butt of jokes which or not at all. same on Seinfeld, frasier, cheers etc. but anyway, fantastic show nonetheless, and the scene when Rose might have had HIV was actually beautiful as a lot of people hated us and were leaving us to die during that time, so saying on the most famous show that theyll stick by her either way was really beautiful

What distinguishes the power of this show from anything else, I think, is how these are mature individuals who are able to communicate together to get though things - in whatever manner they can, like sarcasm or just blunt truths, but that bond they have is so amazing. I ask you, any of you, what has become of that power, to bond and be honest and sincere and always good to one another? Their morals and sensibility as a group is not something I see a lot these days.

There is an episode called Not another Monday. One of Sophia's friends is thinking of committing suicide. At the same time the girls are babysitting an infant. It is meant to represent the beginning and end of life. I don't know why but the final scene when Sophia is talking to the infant by herself in the kitchen makes me always tear up. It just makes you think how fast the years go.
