Oh man, I just cannot agree with Justin here that Persona 5's writing is not good. It sometimes does go in circles, but the same exact thing happened many times in Persona 4. And in both games this is the case especially at the beginning of the game, and less so later on. I think they just want everyone to be on the same page, and they repeat and go back to some stuff a lot, since it is a 100 hour story-based RPG, and they want to set up how everything works. I would never consider it tedious, it is a really slow burn though.
There are some sentences that are a bit off, but overall, I like those characters, and I was bummed when I was done with the game. I just, I cannot see where he's coming from.
I agree with Griffin that the theme maybe doesn't land 100% of the time. Some story arcs are better than others. But I enjoyed the heck out of it.

So with Griffin on -I love Persona 5 but hate how it did so many things. - Also Justin's comments on it not respecting your time even go beyond the dialogue sections, was just in a dungeon last night where a simple -collect security cards to get to higher security cards to open the doors- puzzle was made that much more irritating by the fact that every new door you came to (or even every old door you re-checked) didn't give a message saying -you need X security clearance- but rather a several-person -Hey, this door won't open! - -Oh no, looks like this one's locked too! - -Looks like it needs X security clearance- etc dialogue section. EVERY TIME. I get the immersion in the -team- thing they're going for, but could have been achieved by doing that the first time and then just giving a simple, quick message. This kind of stuff is EVERYWHERE in the game.

Man I feel like I know Griffin's taste in games too well because he kept getting excited but not finishing his comments when they were explaining Nier Automata's different endings. and I just knew -he's totally comparing this to Virtue's Last Reward right now-. I wish he had actually finished a thought so I could verify if I was right

I can't even imagine losing in that first 30 minutes, I don't think Yoko Taro and crew could either, they didn't even think that could happen with someone that would go out of their way to play their game and that's probably why there was no save because holy shit. HOW?
