I have been following this game for a while cause it's been my favourite game series since the first one and they said years ago that the destructibility was only in multiplayer, maybe they didn't advertise it well enough but at Gamescom 2015 they said it was multiplayer only. In the 2015 trailer it said -Crackdown 3 will blow up the way you play games today, by introducing a revolutionary new multiplayer experience using 100% destructible environments- so as far as the pre alpha stage it has always only been the multiplayer that has the 100% destruction so don't really understand people saying it was a late decision to change it.

Destructible environments only being in multiplayer was announced since its reveal. The reason being so people can play offline, and the fact is messes with the mission design is another reason.
Game looks fun, doesn't look like you guys jive with Crackdown judging by the complaints. Running up the side of walls like in Prototype? My dude, that's not Crackdown lol. Methodically climbing up buildings is part of its appeal because you run the risk of falling to your death, but if you can simply run up buildings then it eliminates that.

Dies anybody listen when Dave Jones said back in 2014 that the destructible city is only in multiplayer. Also everyone keeps thinking that destruction was completely taken out and that isn't true. They were just showing off a little campaign this time around. If you follow them on Twitter you will see that they said we will see further footage of the actual destruction in the near future.

I suspect the reason why destruction wasn't widely implemented into the single player is because it most likely because it would have required an always online connection to utilize the cloud servers, and people probably would habe balked at the idea of always online for a single player campaign, whereas multiplayer by definition is always online so its easier to implement.

Are these guys supposed to be game journalists this is exactly why the gaming media is shit. The reason the cloud computing aspect was shifted to multiplayer was because Microsoft got rid of the console being always online so everything Microsoft was going to do before the xb1 launch had to be changed modified or adapted so that it could work offline.
reply

I assume the multiplayer only thing has to do with the fact that the servers will be handling the blunt of the processing power. Which i didn't think was that possible, but a while back it was said that the cloud was what allowed them to have destruction on this scale. I guess.

What Crackdown brought was fresh and fun. But now Saints Row 4 exists, which does everything Crackdown did, but bigger and better. So Crackdown 3 just ends up looking like a poor imitation of a game that imitated the original.

Microsoft can't win. They put the destruction in multiplayer, people complain it's not in single player. If they had put it in the single player, people would complain the game is always online for a single player experience.
reply

it really worries me that they haven't put the destructible mode front and center or given it to anyone to play. That should be a flagship feature and yet they're barely discussing it. It's disconcerting
reply

They always said it was in multiplayer if they did it in single they everyone would need xbox live many people dont have that which would cause a lower purchase rate
reply

Bring back Tara Long. That's quite a letdown if it looks like a 360 game; isn't his a AAA title that is supposed to utilize the power of the Xbox Scorpio?
reply

Looks like a 360 game?
If that's true Crackdown should be tossed in a trash bin, and the developers escorted from the building.

reply

I'mma be honest, I only clicked the link because I saw Nick and Griffin. I don't care about this game at all.
reply

but they been told everyone that destructible environment is only in mp. you guys need to research more
reply

They revealed back during the reveal of the destruction environment that it was only in the multiplayer.
reply

It looks kinda like if Michael Bay directed -Tron-
edit: (checks if Michael Bay directed Tron. Phew, ok.

reply

Man, ever since Polygon got weird the comment section got weirder xD Still one of the nicest ones tho.
reply

They said that the destruction was multiplayer only since it was presented, why is everyone so shocked?
