Games are for dads. Thanks to video games, dads can play golf, build birdhouses, mow the lawn, and go fishing. all without leaving the home office. But what do games like Powerwash Simulator, Train Sim World 2, and The Golf Club have to offer the childless urban-dwelling millennial? Pat Gill reviews a selection of powerful dad games to glean life lessons and fatherly insight into the world of dads. and his own psyche

I love you dearly, but I disagree with the lawn so much. But I hate lawns in general. It-s history is from kings and lords who could afford to waste land to not be growing food or letting nature and the ecosystem do what it does. Instead the kings and lords used slaves to cut down the grass, and rob all life from the land. Tall grass is where life prospers. Where bugs and small animals can find safety. Better yet, there are so many native plants that could be in your yard. I highly encourage looking at what native grasses, flowers, and other plant life is in your area. Planting and taking care of our land like that way it-s original people, the indigenous, they knew how to live in balance with nature. We can learn to do it again
Sincerely, grass dad

I think when you become a dad (or step dad) i think you should revisit this as it be interesting to watch. Also my mates with kids play the type of games you shown (farm sim and house flipper too. They have to have: escape RL, can be paused at a 1 sec warning and something that needs unlimited designing ( and can be shown to others later like satisfactory.
Oh and there has to be insight in to parenthood with dad/mum jokes(the two of us)
What you think?

and anyone can be a dad, its non-gender based, since if a woman's a dad, that just means they're someone who takes on the responsibilities of parenthood with ease. When a mom takes on responsibility in media, its portrayed as a burden, like she must be exhausted to have it all. While a dad can do all this while telling jokes and going on road trips. But really anyone can be a dad. Anyone can tell dad jokes. Or mom jokes. Or guardian jokes.

a wonderful video on the isolation and burden that comes from conforming to a rigid masculine ideal, when all it takes is a little vulnerability to find a connection with your art school son. i just want to grill for god's sake!

Completely off topic from the video's main theme of dads, but does anyone know what the picture on the left of his back wall is from or even what it is? I'm just really curious about that

As a dad that doesn't personally take part in any of these activities, I approve. Though I wish we'll get a better take your child to the mall and the park simulator than Heavy Rain

I know fishing dad games are a whole genre, but between Far Cry 5 and Stardew Valley I have all the video game fishing enjoyment I could ever hope for, and then some!

I'm a dad, but i see these and i notice they're all my brother in law's favorite activities (who's also a dad. It makes me question my dadness.

Arma's a good candidate. It's a FPS where you march in formation half the time. Then wait for permission to open fire upon enemy contact.

my dad playes a military flight simulator with his buddies, only on weekends, and nothing else. He probably has more than $5000 in equipment

Trains aren't bound to an intricate track system. They're bound to get the friction on. I mean. You said they were long and strong.

I don-t know if this was intentional, but the music and language/intonation choices really make it sound like a Jacob Geller video

Real dad games can be played in a way which achieves satisfaction in the space of 20 minutes to 1 hour before bub wakes up.

I'm not sure why Pat has such issue with the golf game. I loved having -anonymous hole action- with dads back in college.

We got my dad an oculus over quarantine because all his friends had one as well, now they play vr golf all the time.

The concluding statement about the golf club had me simultaneously laughing and saying -oh no-, 10/10 dad content

Being 23 and finding myself drinking a beer and wearing a hawaiian shirt while watching this video is euphoria

My dad likes Zelda. He says that most games I play remind him of castlevania. He also likes racing games.
