Many video games explore alternate history. But when they start getting into the Kennedy assassination, you know it's gonna get weird. There are a few different games that have toyed with this particular moment in history and, strangely enough, the one that recreates it exactly is also the one that's fueled the most conspiracy theories about who really killed JFK

There's a very fair point about how media changes memory in here, but I feel like there's inherent irony in using mocking scare quotes to imitate how conspiracy theorists discuss the honesty of government accounts while also talking about the existence of conspiracies around events like these as if they're some dangerous brain worm that kills your rationality. That's even more true in a video that acknowledges MK ULTRA and various intelligence programs that spied on Americans, given how those events were repeatedly cast as conspiracies, both around the specific cases mentioned and with more recent issues like the programs Snowden revealed.
Don't get me wrong, an approach like Black Ops is obviously going to raise questions for reasons other than actual merit, because it's presenting you with a false story to think of when Kennedy comes up. But the existence of conspiracies around Kennedy's assassination isn't a threat to people's rationality, it's an expression of it, regardless of the accuracy, because being presented with the objective fact that the United States government and more specifically US intelligence agencies have regularly acted to undermine both the rights of Americans and democracy around the world is a very good reason to return to the explanations provided for other significant, complicated and difficult to explain events.

For me, it's just that, regarding the real JFK assassination, there's an awful lot of coincidences in the case that make it hard for me to believe that that many coincidences are just coincidence. If they aren't a coincidence, it paints a picture of conspiracy. Plus. Some historians agree that if JFK had lived long enough, he had several scandals that were going to break soon, like his affair with Marilyn Monroe. If he hadn't been assassinated, those scandals would have ruined his legacy and undone everything he was working on. He had things in progress that still took their course after his death that helped the US not lose the cold war, like the space race to the moon. If he hadn't died, the scandals would have resulted in him losing support for those programs. So I like the idea of the irony of members of the government conspiring to kill Kennedy to stop what he was doing and take over the Presidency, only to accidentally save his legacy instead. Also. JFK eerily predicted his assassination right before going to the motorcade, including details of how he was assassinated. So it's fascinating to think that maybe he knew about the assassination attempt, maybe he knew what his scandals would do to his legacy, and went through with the motorcade anyway, after refusing plees to increase security and get in a covered car on purpose.

Well it is DEFINITELY a good idea to be VERY cautious of conspiracy theories, writing them off entirely just because they are a conspiracy theory is never a good idea. For example, if I were to tell you that Martin Luther King Jr was killed by the government, you probably wouldn't believe me. And not believing me at first is definitely the right way to think about it, but you shouldn't write it off as impossible. Especially since if you look into it, MLK Jr's family literally sued the state for conspiracy involving his murder AND WON. Not only that, but there was only one witness who corroborated that the person convicted was the real killer, there were plenty of people who saw the shot come from somewhere else, and the police literally sawed down a tree that was in front of the window that they were claiming the shot came from DURING THE INVESTIGATION which is literally tampering with the scene of the crime.
Yes, you shouldn't take everything you hear at face value and you should be very cautious of conspiracy theories, but just because they're a conspiracy theory doesn't mean they can't be true.

After the Bay of Pigs (CIA operation to invade Cuba which failed disastrously, JFK stated (concerning the CIA) his desire to -splinter the CIA into a thousand pieces and scatter it into the winds-
Hilariously George W. Bush (who worked for the CIA) was in Dallas that day and he was tasked with protecting the President. After failing to even place himself at the scene, stating when asked the Bush didn-t remember. some might be surprised to know that he was promoted to director in the CIA, then the presidency. Even though he failed to protect the President who spoke out against the CIA.
Believing conspiracy theories, when they have been shown to be more likely than an magic bullet, is dangerous because it erodes our faith in three letter agencies. and that-s clearly wrong since they have proven time and time again that corruption is not possible in such an environment.
Gov agents are not capable of evil. - love you Uncle Sam

I think media that makes you think and doubt offical historical narratives are extremely important, especially regarding recent events. To this day there are still extremely high profile cases that have completely bogus official explanations. There was a specific case of witness elimination in my country, the Pesseghini case, in which the entire family of a policeman was murdered and the police pinned their 6 year old child as the perpetrator who conveniently commited suicide right after the deed. All perfectly fired shots to the head and dozens of witness reports completely ignored by the police because they contradict their official story. At the time they went as far as saying the kid had motive because he played Assassin's Creed, since it is a game where you take lives.

Oswald didn't shoot anyone. The gun held up in the pictures where the police allegedly found a rifle in the TSBD was not the same kind of gun Oswald allegedly owned. Oswald was a -red herring-. He was tested for gun powder residue and there wasn't any, so that says something. The Zapruder film was not shown on TV until 1975. It had been tampered with long before we even saw stills from it in Life magazine.
The real take-away here is this. Why is the story still being passed on to generation after generation? No one is making video games about the RFK asassination, also in front of a lot of people. No one is asking whether or not John Wilkes Booth killed Lincoln, even though most people at the time didn't know what Booth looked like. No one gives it a second thought.

I remember hearing about JFK Reloaded on one of those -Gaming News- TV programmes that existed briefly before all that stuff naturally went online instead which presented it pretty seriously. and then downloading and having a blast with it for hours. There was a popular modded version with extra chaotic features called JFK Revolutions which I only realised was a cheeky Matrix trilogy joke years later. Conceptually playing death dolls with a real life historical event and representations of real people might be questionable. But also we're due for JFK Resurrections; )

Should have left the tripod hit shot from the bloopers in tbh. In less lighthearted omissions, there were subsequent official inquiries that cast real doubts on the conclusion that Oswald was the only shooter. Like, unequivocally stating that that conclusion was wrong and that there was more than one. The conspiracy theories that spring around the JFK assassination are definitely just wild, but specifically with regards to Oswald being the sole gunman that day, there's definitely -something- going on there that's out of line with the Warren report.

A comcast shill company releasing a video on a topic that partially discredits a running politician who is JFK-s nephew who has polled higher than usual and runs on dismantling the corporate stranglehold on American politics? Oh ok. Yeah i trust this journalism. And yeah people with PhD-s are simply morally and intellectually superior to any other people and can-t possibly be paid to say the agenda of the biggest multimedia conglomerate in America that spend more money on lobbying than almost any other company. And it blames video games. Huh.

With all due respect, saying that the CIA is absolutely responsible for horrific crimes, abuses, and conspiracies all while in the same breath handwaving the possibility that the CIA is responsible for the Kennedy assassination because -it's a conspiracy- is just trying to eat your cake and have it, too. It is not outside of reason that Allen Dulles -- one of America's forgotten sociopaths, who also served on the Warren Commission -- would have tried to have JFK killed in response to Kennedy's attempt to gut the CIA's funding.

B4 internet, B4 videogames even, ANYONE with a monocom of sense, anyone who cared to look knew, this WAS A CONSPIRACY at the highest of levels, it was so obvious they used warren commission to whitewash. Plus assistance of a media so bought n owned were still looking for closure.
The games are NOT THE CAUSE OF disbelief the god damn shot could not be done under same circumstances NOT POSSIBLE, LOOK UP Carlos Hathcock USMC snipers attempts, Oswald couldn't carry Carlos ammocan

When I click on this video I thought it was talking about stop making JFK movies or the very least movies about his assassination. I had no idea that it was something you can do with a video game, I mean this is probably the most disgusting and disrespectful thing you can possibly do. Imagine if there was a video game about killing Tupac, Biggie Smalls, Selena, John Lennon. Okay I know those were just musicians but still the tastelessness is astounding to me.

I study disinformation bc I was raised staunch conservative by a dad who is sure Oswald killed Kennedy but later became a climate change denialist, and tbh after reading about the Dulles bros who set up the CIA and all the connections to the mafia its really entirely possible that someone other than Oswald shot him. And my research is specifically against conspiracy theories sooooo, yeah lol

The old British Sci-Fi show Red Dwarf has a great episode where the characters end up time traveling and accidentally prevent JFK's assassination. But that creates an even worse timeline than the one we know. So they take JFK back in time -again- and he becomes the second shooter on the grassy knoll, killing himself for the common good.

B. Brodey, Is most recent and best freakin example on. How online -Detectives- is actually super dangerous and should be charge fullest extend of the law. Look it up. If you arent a real professional in the felid or actual in the case/ work on. Then shutup dont say nothing. Y'all ruin a kids life. For being internet police
reply

It is much better to cover it up. You do realize the Warrren Commission was run by Allen Dulles who hated JFK for firing him for the Bay of Pigs fiasco. The Warrren Report is full of lies including many known fraudulent alterations of evidence. I hate clueless people who think they know a lot more than they do.
reply

This isnt hard. The Mossad killed Kennedy over his desire to investigate the Dimona nuclear facility as he had reason to believe Israel had stolen US nuclear intelligence. To this day, Israel has the most lax inspection and reporting rules of any nuclear country on the planet. Why do you think that is?
reply

This video is all well and good, but we can all admit to ourselves now that the CIA definitely killed Kennedy right? Like it shouldn't be conspiratorial to suggest given everything that has come out since and the fact that the government still refuses to declassify their full investigation.
reply

6: 33 I'd say it's fiction, but opens up the 8 shooter theory pretty well. 11: 20 I genuinely feel like there was more than one shooter but Oswald was the killer. I bet he shot once or twice, JFK had major enemies. 13: 52 you mean just a theory, right. I mean is it? 14: 57. Faccs

This was such a weird and disappointing video. First was it necessary to constantly show the headshots? A real person died, it was gruesome. Second this felt very -trust the government they would never lie-, which we in fact know is not true. Just an overall weird video.

Played JFK Reloaded ages back. It's relatively easy to get very close to Harvey's shots with a little practice, even if you don't get them exactly. It's also possible to flip the car by making the driver panic and kill everyone.

the killing of jfks results in an increased need of them which leads to the existence of jfk mills, which breed jfks in poor conditions just to sell jfk puppies to families who want a jfk of their own
reply

JFK Reloaded was actually the decisive factor in me believing the Warren Commission more than one of those many conspiracy theories about the CIA assassinating JFK. Haven't played the game in years however.
reply

My favorite conspiracy theory related to Kennedy is that there was a second shooter, but saw Oswald just eviscerate the president and just went -whelp- and left never shooting a single bullet.

I think the Black Ops take on it is the funniest case of -yes, and- I've ever seen.
You think the CIA killed JFK? Yeah! Sure! Here's the exact guy who did it! You are going to play him.

Great dissection. Too bad i gotta do 8 hours of research making sure this isnt a Lyndon Johnson administration illuminati piece to gaslight the sheeples

I play Black ops when I was 14 I did not pick up that that game culminated in Kennedy's assassination. I don't think I picked up like any of the story at all

-Heavy pause- if you care about video game plot lines while the point of the video is that those people are being spoiled in a different sense by that media
