What a fantastic year for music. I was 15 in 1991 when 'Summertime' was in the chart. I still love that song. For me it was THE summer song of the year. Other favourites of mine are 'Joyride', 'Losing My Religion', 'Stars' and 'Love And Understanding'. I was surprised there's no 2 Unlimited in the video. I'm sure their first hit 'Get Ready For This' was released late 1991. And I think 'Unbelievable' by EMF came out in 1990 not 1991. A great mix of songs here though. Brought back some great memories.

These hits bring back so many memories from the early 90's (Born in 1981. From early on I was into music, recording on cassette tapes from radio recordings, hoping the dj's voice wouldn't ruin the intro en outro. Great music, pop and dance, just as I remember from listening to the radio and watching MTV at school in the lunch break. Thanx for uploading and bringing back the memories!

Don't get me wrong, in the main I liked 90's music & there are plenty of great tunes here but I was gutted when the 80's influence had largely disappeared by 1991. Watching that Rick Astley song here, takes me back to how disappointed I felt that he had gone, from releasing such amazing catchy tunes to something like that.

i was born in 1970, i look to be the oldest in these comments. anyway, very nice selection, almost all of them are hits. i was 21 in 1991 so not only i heard these i dance on them, now i can't dance no more, not a biggie since today's music is not danceable anyway LOL 1991 was incredible in terms of today's music (2024)

Music peaked in the late 80s and early 90s, then started to go downhill once rap and hip hop music started (MC Hammer and his ilk were the very beginnings of it. It's been going downhill ever since. The worst thing the music industry ever did was accept rap and hip hop as legit music.

I'm suddenly wondering how on earth I missed Roxette's Fading Like a Flower (Every Time You Leave) because it peaked at No. 2 here in the US. I'm sure I wasn't under a rock back then. Nonetheless, I did enjoy seeing C C Music Factory's videos on MTV that year.

One of the last good years for music. Many talented singers, songwriters and musicians. A wide mix of different musical genres. An echo of the 80s.
Then in 1992-1993 it ended. After that came techno, bad euro dance, gangster rap, boy and girl bands.

One of the good things about 1991 in music was the Seattle bands making the glam metal bands irrelevant. Man, I hated the late 80's hair metal acts. I didn't even like grunge but the enemy of my enemy is my friend, at least in this case

So not only did someone take the time and effort to pick the most iconic songs of 1991 and edit the most recognizable pieces from every song back to back. But somehow also thought about putting it in alphabetical order! So satisfying: )

The year I was 18! Sat my A Levels, started Uni, started going to see the footy, Bryan Adams was number 1 for 16 weeks Sadly, though, it was also the year we lost Freddie Mercury.

lol I remember The Bartman.
We were banned from singing it at school because the staff thought Bart Simpsons was a bad influence, so of course we sang it every chance we got.

Clearly the 80s feel is over here. 80% of the tracks here are shit crap compaired to the 80s tracks. I just watched all of your 80s hit songs too. Now I'll go back again.

I was 16. Transitioning from one high school to a better one, making new friends, working in my first job. A transformational and exciting year. This brings it all back

I totally forgot Army of Lovers was a thing. How was that even a hit It sounds like your average europop, but it’s way more pretentious and kinky

Its interesting how some of these songs have such an 80's feel but in others you can see the 90's coming through.

1991 feels like the last gasp of 80s music. Thank you Nirvana for kicking everyone's into the real 90s
