Loyal Parrot Is His Mom's Lifetime Companion Soulmates Your parrot reminds me so much of the one my dads neighbor had and she had this bird since the beginning of WWII. His name was John Henry and he was so loyal to Ms. Morgan and they truly cared for each other. As a kid, I would visit her and John on Friday evenings and watch TV with them. He was so smart and after about 3 years of visits, he was friendly enough to me where he allowed me to pet/scratch his head. In March of 1967, a drunken sailor walked from a bar down the street to her apartment building and saw that her front door was open for ventilation. He entered and attacked Ms. Morgan, raped and strangled her. He then managed to get John Henry and kill him as well. The killer had scratches on his arms and I believe those were inflicted by John Henry. He got life but why this guy had to kill this nice 79 year old lady and her parrot defies any logic. That parrot looked so much like this one and was the long time companion and family to this nice old lady.

I adore big birds. If I didn't have a bunch of kids and cats and a dog, I'd totally own one. It's true, though, you really have to put a lot of time into them, and honestly You need to find a bird that chooses you, if that even happens. They only take up with certain people, and usually only a small handful of people for their entire lives. For whatever reason, I have a way with them, maybe because I'm a nut like them lol, but they aren't for everyone.
Here's another thing. they have to trust you Shoot. you have to trust them as well, especially letting them near your mouth/lips like that You do NOT want to try that if you aren't family to them. If they clamped down with that beak You're hurting. You're going to the ER, gushing blood. Powerful, painful beaks. You really have to build trust to do that with a parrot. Once you build it, though It's usually smooth sailing. Bites are a part of the process with birds.

Anyone else wincing at the laptop monitor!
Damn that screen could have easily shattered with just the most minute change in the angle or force of that bird’s beak
I’ve seen cats attacking laptop screens and shattering them! It happens much faster and effortlessly than I thought possible. I instantly was nervous watching the cat nibble at the screen, just waiting anxiously, knowing full well I’m about to watch a cat end a laptops pictorial functioning

I just adopted a parrot, it bit me for 4 days straight until he became the most loving boy ever. Now he refuses to leave my hand, he puts his beak on my hand and waits for the pets. I had no idea how smart and needy they are. But if you work from home its a possibility, they live for soooo long, so the commitment must be very strong. Coquito says goodbye!

I have an African Grey parrot (27) years old. I’ve had him since he was four months old. I also have a mustache parakeet (27) years old. They are amazing pets. The grey is a great talker. They’re out of their cage when I’m home. Neither one likes being outside and I’d never take them out without a harness or in a carrier.

I've always wanted a amazon or African gray parrot but I'm 33 and the parrot would almost certainly outlive me so I wouldn't put the animal through the trauma of having to be rehomed after spending many years with me. I'm thinking about getting a quaker parrot though as their life expectancy is around 25 years

60 to 80 years You have a friend for life. I definitely wouldn't get one though without knowing how to care for it. Dogs are one thing but birds are completely different so I've heard. I'd want to make sure I'm giving the beauty the best life it could possibly have.

i tyhink personally the hardest thing about owning a parrot is in the case that the bird actually end up out-living its owner, having to relocate and re-house the bird, let alone gaining its trust all over again (depending on the bird and scenario) must be a handfull

Double yellow head Amazon parrot love 2 sing. I took care of one owner what is a female blond hair so anytime someone with blond hair would come in you would sing My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean My Bonnie Lies Over the Sea so won't you bring back my Bonnie to me

i don't doubt for a moment that keeping a parrot is a huge commitment but I wish I had to be committed to my dog for 80 years. Sadly, dogs don't live anywhere near as long as parrots.

It's rare for a bird not to fly away at any given point.
So don't say they shouldn't be in a cage. We'd love to let them out with us, but 90% of these would fly away when possible.

Sooo lovely
I've a rescued parrot (Indean ring neck female) and she recently allowed me to touch her head only, in future may be things will get more better.
