Couple Spends A Year Trying To Rescue A Stray Dog. Then This Happens Faith = Restored Why Why do people choose to just dump a dog when there are so many options If they are afraid to bring it to the shelter because they dont want to pay the fees for surrendering their dog, dont want to be interrogated about the dogs history and demeanour, reasons they are surrendering a perfectly good dog, or because they abused the dog and dont want to pick up cruelty to an animal charges, or if its because animals in shelters get euthanized if they arent adopted; then find a no-kill shelter, go to it in the middle of the night and tie the dog to the front door or put the puppies in a box!
Why just dump it outside where it could starve or be hit by a vehicle, I mean have some sense and empathy!

I am going through this right now with not only a stray dog, but she has a serious leg injury. Managed to catch her once and get her to a foster home awaiting leg amputation, but she escaped from them and is again free in my neighborhood. She comes here every night to eat. I am hoping I can find a way to get her used to getting close to me.

Nah, he knew from the start, he wanted to be pet and loved and was really confused as to where his owners were and why you were there, but when they never came back, he recognized your voice and sent and probably realized that you're the only thing constant in his life and it was more likely safer with you than someone else.

people do this in residential area - at the expense of the neighbors trying to get a good day of rest as the yappy dog cries all afternoon into the night, rinse and repeat for months on end. What they get is a yappy dog for life and wonder why the neghbors don't want to associate with them when they need help.

This dog is stunning and doesn't seem like a stray at all. His muscular build is impressive, and those ears are fantastic. Also, I'm really enjoying the grand appearance of the house, resembling a large historic Bed and Breakfast.

When you encounter a stray dog. You don't stand tall and hover over him, that will scare him more. What you do is either sit down on the ground or kneel to his level to gain his trust.
reply

Look at those wonderful ears! So glad Scooby built up his courage and went for it. He probably wanted to make sure he was not going to get left again. Thank you kind family.

That’s someone’s dog probably just never got him micro chipped. The fact that he’s left to roam free means he belongs with these people who will take better care of him.

It took your self centered ego and a year of bitter winter nights for this poor dog to be released from pain. You refused to call for professional help. How selfish.
reply

Thank you for taking the time to let him come to you all and I really really really appreciate that and soul from the bottom of your family and hearts and soul now

Have to wonder, where he was eating and sleeping. He didn't look way under weight or filthy dirty. He must have been scrounging or begging at other peoples homes.

Dog 8s clean and healthy and fed. Definitely being taken care of by other pple. Explains why he was gone over winter. They probably took someone else's dog. Lol
reply

It looks like they stole somebody’s dog. Poor guy, he tried not to let them do it. Not a rib showing after months of winter, by a cozy fire somewhere.

Awhhh Sampson was like hey bud these humans are good people, and Scooby was like I guess you’re right! All he needed was to know he’d be safe with you all: D

You belong in his heart. Thank you for allowing him the room to find you along the long winding road to your hearts! Love always wins!

Dear Scooby,
Here is the plan: I'm gonna dress sloppy and get a late 60's haircut. so this family will adopt me as Shaggy.

reply

Bring a stool. just have a seat and try to get him to come to you. Probably the easiest way imho. You guys are wonderful people

Scooby was living with someone in between. Must have been. He didn't maintain his weight hunting rabbits in the woods.

BEAUTIFUL story. Sometimes, the dog just chooses you. Happened to me a dozen times, and I have 13 dogs, now.

They are still pets abandoned. One of the ways to stop pet abandonment is to report animal neglect and abuse.

Scooby walking up the stairs: I can’t believe I could’ve come up here a year ago! This is great!
