Rescue Parrot Hated EVERYONE Until He Met Her He’s so handsome. I’m a vet asst. FYI. You should try an all aluminum cage, because galvanized steel like yours, can get a white rusty powder, in between the cage rungs and bars, and that causes heavy metal poisoning in tropical birds. Some bells, and metallic paint on bird toys can cause it, too. Some other things to watch out for: Teflon coated cooking pans, when cooking food at high heat, causes fumes which is dangerous to birds, keep their quarters out of the kitchen. Also any chemicals, like nail polish, polish remover, glass cleaner. Spores in the air, or in bird food. They’re very sensitive.
Really sweet bird!

I had a bird like this in my twenties. He said five words in varying tones mostly when he wanted eat what I was eating. Of course in my twenties I was out and about a lot. So maybe I was not the best pet owner. But one summer I went to Turkey and I pain my neighbor to watch him who was an older man and home a lot. When I came back Charlie (the bird) was speaking up a storm he had like 25 words and spoke and half sentences, to my neighbor only. I seen he was much happier and gave the bird to the neighbor.

I previously had a mitered conure. I think she was a wild caught bird and was quite ill when I got her. But once she got well and used to usshe was so much fun! She didn’t talk but had the cadence of words so well that we understood her! And when she had a bath, she flew in and out and splashed with such relish! She chewed the tops off my candelabra lightbulbs! Gosh, we lost her more than 25 years ago, and I still miss her! So nice to see yours interacting with you!

Yeah, I've learned from other exotic bird videos that if a bird's made a connection with you you don't give them back. Birds as pets have the mindset of a young child of 3 or 4 years old so giving them up is like giving up a human child of the same age. Once they've connected that you're their parent essentially they will not bond with anyone besides you and your family. With anyone else they will simply be a problem child

People really need to do their homework before getting a pet. Birds can live for decades so they really are a lifelong commitment. They also require a lot of attention and can get depressed if they don't get that attention. I love to see the videos posted of parrots and cockatoos but I know it isn't feasible for me to ever own one.

Singing to my very anxious and scared rescued lovebird while in the cage is how he started to trust me and become tame. Now, over 6 years later, I sing his song each day before bedtime and we dance and sing throughout the day. It takes time and effort, but rescuing a parrot is such a rewarding experience.

They aren't pets, they are family members. Too many irresponsible breeders selling without screening the buyers. Yes, breeding and reckless selling is a nitemare for these highly intelligent souls They deserve so much more. This poor soul was rescued in time.

If you won the trust of this parrot, you have the best friend you ever had. He is sweet, beautiful and adorable. If he is fully feathered, he is even more beautiful. You are lucky to have such a friend.

Parrots must be wonderful pets capables of sweetness and affection. Personally I have no direct experience with one of them but they fascinate me, expecially the ones able to speak and trained to answer.

I don't blame the foster parents I had 7 parrots and they all loved me except one. one of them accepted me the moment he met me but still rejects everyone else. sometimes they just don't click with you

With all the crap going on in the world these days, The Dodo's videos are always a sign that people themselves are not bad, it's politics that screws up everyone! What a wonderful bird

When an animal gives you it's trust, it's for life! Chicken Man started to trust his new mom because he knew she loves him and that he found place to call home

What a wonderful inspiring story. It's so cool that this little guy has been able to warm up to this caring family and begin his new and happy life.

They should get a vet to prescribe him small doses of Prozac.
I've seen other vets prescribe it for stressed animals and it works.
