ive never seen a breed more abused, abandoned and maligned. Even after everything they go through theyre still a shining beacon of love and empathy with humans. I remember before the dog fighting BS in late 80s and people like Vick, pits were beloved and were always around children, guarding them. remember petie on little rascals. People say this breed is a born killer yet you look back in the dog registries before the 80's and there were little to no attacks recorded. They were in the same numbers as any other breed. every decade seems to have its devil dog. we went through Rottweilers in the 80's and on and on. im glad people are waking up to the fact that pits are such a loving and loyal breed.

I've never owned a pittie, but every pittie that I have ever met has been the kindest, sweetest goof nugget. I'm a firm believer that it's nurture over nature that produces mean dogs. It's not the dog's fault, it's how it was raised. Dobermans also have a reputation for being killers (think of Magnum P. I. from the 80s) but I had a friend in high school who had one that was a complete goofball. I have another friend who won't have a dog unless there is some Rottweiler in the mix. The only thing I have ever been afraid of when it comes to her dogs is that they'll lick my face off. It's not the dog, it's how you treat them.

Your son is lovely and certainly shows his love, even when he was afraid at first. Dogs and kids are the two best judges of people. I have a dog fight dog that I also rescued. She loves my cat and I both. My health hasn’t been good the last couple of years. She climbs into bed and just snuggles. When I have to go for a procedure, which is often, she boards at her animal control officer’s house who rescued her. She adores her pittie and actually has helped her pittie to calm down. Mine is now 7 and hers 3. Her dogs are larger except for her daschund who thinks she’s a big dog.

I read an article once about an undercover investigation into a dog fighting ring. The cop said when he was taken thru a yard full of chained pitbulls, they would position themselves to where their tails would get touched as the guys walked past them. That's how bad they were craving interaction!

If people would just realize, all dogs are good, it's the people who raise them who are BAD, dogs are loyal they only do what's told to them, I have 4 Pitts, I can hardly get through the door, cause all 16 legs n 4 wagging tails are there to Meet Me THE BEST!

Aww. I can relate to this in a way. My family trained me to be a fighter so I had no social skills except aggression. But as soon as I discovered love I melted like a baby. I am so docile now. I'm a girl btw. Like the Beatles sang, all you need is love.

This is irresponsible. That dog gone through hell and needs to be put out of her misery. The an needs to be humanly euthanized so it won’t bring harm to other people. This is why dogfighting need to be taken seriously
