We also 2 years ago got an elder blinded ginger cat taken in house. At first the foster family told us we were never ever going to be able to pet her cause she just won't allow it (doesn't socialize and defends herself while being scratched.
1 year later and she just turned out to be the most energized lil fire bundle of joy we could have ever hoped for!
She loves to get petted, played with and oversocializes with all our other cats. As if she has found her second youth! She actually has way too much energy compared too the other kitties at home for them to keep up with, turned out she's just a lil tigress
We adopted this oldie for the same reason as she did with Chichi, often overlooked and neglected in shelters.
But don't judge a book by it's 'old dusty' cover.

I have a 12-13 (14 at most) basset-German shepherd mix, and honestly, at time he still looks like he’s 6. He runs fast, barks with vigor, has trouble with steps but he’ll choose to take them anyways cause he is a stubborn little, and he LOVES carrots and wrestling. He’s precious: )
The fact that some people want senior dogs put down when they’re living their best life is sad

I adopted a 12 year old Pomeranian 5 years ago. She had mange and all but 2 teeth were pulled. We just celebrated her adoptoversary a few weeks ago! Her senior vet exam bloodwork came back yesterday - she’s healthier now than she was 5 years ago! She spunky and full of life, but she does sleep most of the day. I am so lucky to be her dog mom!

I have a brother/sister combo of chihuahua mixes. (twice her weight each) They are 14 and doing great both have collapsing trachea. Other than that. they are more active than any dog I know of that is 2/3rd their age. (I had to adapt the percentage as I know someone with older border collies) (not 14 but still)

My boyfriend and I rescued an abandoned cat that lived next door to him. It was so heartwarming to see her accept love and learn what love was. She's been gone about a month and I miss her terribly everyday but it warms my heart to know that we loved her and she loved us senior pets are the best gift!

Chichi is a little dynamo! I think she's capable of being a wonderful companion for many more years because:
1) You can see her energy and fierce joy in life, and
2) my birth dad found a photo of their sweet long-haired chihuahua Maddie with his infant son when the son was 25!

Sadly I had to put down my own Chi Chi, a beautiful black and white cat down, due to health issues. I like to think seeing this pupper name Chi Chi, that she transferred some of her own love and energy into this dog to give her more years of life that she wasn't able to get.

My wife had a Chihuahua when we first got married and he lived to only be 12 years old due to an undiagnosed heart problem. My wife would have done anything to keep him alive because he was the light of her life way back then. Thank you for not listening to the trolls.

She's beautiful and way more energetic than my 16 year old boy I found on the street. But, He's been in kidney and liver failure for a few years now. Still hanging on, though. I don't know how anyone could live with putting down perfectly healthy dogs because they're old. So sad.

Chihuahuas live so long because even Death knows not to mess with them. I'm usually not a fan of really small dog breeds. That being said, I'd love a dog like her. It's that Don't f with me! old lady attitude mixed with It's the best day ever! energy.

In LA took care of the landlord's 20 yr old chihuahua Charlie. He eventually went blind but still > Bathed Charlie & the 4 other dogs. They'd all pile into my car & go to dog park. Eventually Charlie would pass of old age but he lived like a king

Aww, sweet Chi Chi! I’m also taking care of a senior pup she may not be as quick as she used to be, but her intelligence and affection are just as amazing as any younger dog’s. I really hope more people consider adopting older dogs!

We are seniors, and we adopted An older cat(10 years old, and she is also a princess.
I love her so much, and I freak out if she might, possibly, maybe, have something wrong with her.
My wife is the sane one, but what can I do.

Chichi can see, hear, move, smell, and taste she is healthy she doesn't have teeth but that's why you feed them wet food. My dad had a Chihuahua who lived until he was 17! I'm positive chichi will easily live past 20

This dog is awesome, full of life. My ginger boy is 21. Senior pets are wonderful teachers of life. We older folk know many people wish we would just go away. Not happening. We and our senior pets are here to stay.

I've adopted several senior cats. They still have a lot of life in them and love to give. One lived to 22. On the other hand, a kitten I adopted only lived six years. There's no telling how long any of us have.
