I believe that Ursula has the same situation as Ariel because in the song poor unfortunate soul towards the end she seems very passionate about how the boys don't like a lot of blabber and all about how the boys are there I believe this is because she actually like the human but her big brother and father King Triton and the King did not like fish so they did what King Triton is doing to Ariel and what our Salon is doing to Ariel I believed she saw another sea witch and she took her voice and now that she has the chance to go off to the human world she finds her prince but the prince doesn't fall in love with her finds out that she is a monster finds out that she is a mermaid sea witch and destroys any self passion that she has and any self-esteem actually even has she has none but he makes it worse that's why I think so passionate about how the boys don't like a lot of talk cuz how would she know all about she meant if she didn't have her own experience I might be wrong but this is just what I think

Ursula was Vanessa when she was a young mermaidprincess.
She's vain and crule to her mersubjects.
When she gets the seashellneckless, she use it's powers for personal gain and it transforms her into her octopusform due to the darkness in her heart.
She's banished and exils herself to the dry land above.
She lives there a few years in the form of Vanessa. Has a few kids. When her true form is discoverd she escapes back to the sea.
750 years later we meet her decendent lady Tremaine and later, Cruella De Vil both became reincarnations of their aquatic ancester in both looks and mindset.

Ursula was a human named Vanessa and she lived a happy life but one day her mom died and her dad was at work when it happened and Vanessa loved to swim so she went to the beach because she thought she did not need them so she swam and she swam but then someone popped out of the water and turned her into a octopus and then turned her into a mermaid so she looks like how she does now but then some one took her and adopted her in the ocean but the next day she died Vanessa was so sad both of her moms died she swam away and then she became evil because all of the sad stuff in her life. That is my theory.

Okay the original interest was based in enchantment probably but whats great about the storyline is that he actually did fall in love with her in those 3 days without the enchanting powers of her voice and then her voice just added onto the love at the end, without the struggle to get there, they could have never truly fallen in love genuinely.

what if ursula was queen athena's sister? that would explain how ariel looks like her and the queen. ursula was the sea witch so it might be possible that king tritan expelled her as she failed to protect her sister. that also makes her a sister-in-law for tritan.
