Absolutely no to everything ahead of IT not only is there no scarier film from the last decade, but those 4 are laughably NOT even scary to begin with, especially that POS Get Out which is nothing more than a parody upon satire of whitey secretly wants to be black and endure all that damn oppression, hurr durr durr

As a 46 year old, life long horror fan, I've NEVER seen a better year for the genre than 2022! Who else thinks that within the next 10 years, a horror movie will win best picture at the Oscars? (And I'm talking about something that NO ONE will question IS a horror movie; before anyone even BRINGS UP Lambs. )

I remember seeing how Hereditary has drops of The Exorcist in it during the ad campaign. I knew right then and there I had to see it in theatres. I remember walking out if the movie trembling at what I had just seen. I also remembered to watch for Ari Aster s next movie as I knew he was a force to be reckoned with.

Suspiria 2018, Raw, and The Lighthouse sucked. Didn't think Barbarian, The Autopsy Of Jane Doe, and The Witch were that great. Didn't see Pearl or A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night. I'll agree with the rest, but how the hell is Evil Dead Rise not on here? That should have been top 5 easily.

Hereditary and The Babadook are very overrated. I watched them both twice with a lot of time apart to make sure I wasn't missing something. But nope, they're just not that great. Midsommar was fantastic. Another list where a great movie or show is mentioned and not on the actual last.

I would add Smile to the list. I know it was derivative of other passed on curse movies; but it had SO MUCH atmosphere, and some great well crafted jump scares! Also, I think that what the actual curse WAS is the best idea anyone has ever had for a horror movie like it!

Forgot to mention The Menu.
Some would argue that it's more of a suspensful dark comedy, but it does have horror in it.
And instead of portraying it's suspense on the basic cannibalism, it does all sorts of creative ways to have us glued to our seat

I know I'm in the minority, but I didn't care for It at all! The opening scene was fantastic, but after that, It reminded me of a bad after school special with WAY too much CGI. IMMENSELY OVERRATED, imo!

I really liked It, it fits in this ranking!
The Babadook disturbs me every time I see it, a truly excellent psychological horror film.
Jane Doe's Autopsy I also liked this, very disturbing.

I really enjoyed X, but I don't see the hype around Pearl personally, but just my opinion. It was okay. Mia Goth gives an excellent performance, but other than that it was a pretty standard horror movie.

Ready or Not definitely should have been an Honorable Mention at the least! Maybe it had a few too many laughs for this consideration, but it is easily one of my favorite recent horror movies.

I appreciated that IT didn't really have any jump scares, and thought of new, inventive ways for frights. All of the child actors were brilliant and Bill Skarsgard stole the show.

Saint Maud, is more of a psychological horror movie. But holy crap, that final jump scare is one of the best I've ever seen. Honorable mention at least.

Missing: His House (2020. So, soooo good! One of the few horror movies of the last few years that really had me thinking about it for a while afterward.
