Top 100 Greatest Movie Scenes of All Time

Rating: 4.5; Vote: 2
we re counting down our picks for the greatest singular scenes that have ever graced the big screen. Watch out for spoilers ahead! Our countdown includes scenes from movies Back to the Future, Frankenstein, Taxi Driver and more! Did we think of all your favorite iconic movie moments I wasn't sure I'd like this list, but even though I disagree with a few entries as the best of their films, I have to admit that as it went along yes, the 100th best scene is not as good as the best scene. In particular when Gandalf came charging down the mountain at the end of The Two Towers, I almost stood up and cheered in a packed theater. Aragorn's speech not so much. My dad says people stood up and cheered in Rocky at the end.

I'm glad to see a scene from The Wizard of Oz take the top spot, but I thought it was going to be the demise of the Wicked Witch of the West. And while it was nice to see numerous Alfred Hitchcock films make the list, I think there should have been room for the scene in The Birds when the crows are attacking the children as they run from school.

I'm not through this list yet but you already had Full Metal Jacket on here so I'm pretty sure you won't have a second from it. The scene where Gomer Pile played by Vincent D'Onfrio shoots himself in the head should have made that list. It's a brilliant scene and D'Onfrio is brilliant in it. I think he's so underrated.

When I'm watching a horror movie, and I see the killer get shot, get lit on fire, get ran over by car, get knocked out, etc, in my opinion, THOSE are the greatest scenes of all time. Enough said.

The effort behind this video is very admirable, but not including a single Akira Kurosawa, Yasujiro Ozu, Sergio Leone, Sidney Lumet or Masaki Kobayashi scene is ridiculous

Jaws has so many great scenes. Especially when Quint told the story of the USS Indianapolis.

Where the hell is the interrogation scene from The Dark Knight! Also, how is the heroes return only at 75! That should be so much higher on the list. Great list otherwise
reply

Superman, Scream, Forest Gump, Bohemian Rhapsody, Breakfast Club, Gladiator, Crazy 88, Lost in Translation, Aragon's speech at Black Gate. Watched to 62. To be continued: )

I will say this--having once played Dorothy and seen the film. I DO wonder where Dorothy got her capacity to understand a rainbow or the concept of color at all.

Time to die from the first Blade runner always hit me harder than the tears in the rain monologue but I may be in the minority on that. good list Mojo
reply

I expected White Heat to make the list. Top Of The World, Ma is the obvious choice, but I preferred How's his mother? That scene still resonates with me.
reply

Wait, what about the airplane fight from 12 O'Clock High!
Half of that scene was actual footage from the war, you can't say that's not amazing.

reply

Major Kong? Rocky? Mickey as the Sorcerers Apprentice? Lawrence of Arabia? Plus a few others I ll surely remember right after I click the send button
reply

I would have included the Godzilla attacks Tokyo scene from the original film. Quite a genre shaping moment. But I agree with everything else!
