we’re counting down our picks for the most prominent music genres that fell off in popularity. Our countdown of the music genres that died includes Gangsta Rap, Easy Listening, Pub Rock, Hair Metal, Disco, and more! How many of these musical genres did you live through ok this is sad like I was born in the 2005 and still to music like frank Sinatra or ray Charles. also one thing i know is false is willy nelson i hear him on the radio all the time. even more funny i hear willy nelson on the radio more then I hear stuff like Luke Bryan or Kane brown i cant even watch the rest of this false information. ill be honest there is only 4 maybe less of those are true.
i'm trying to be nice but it's so hard when most of those artist are still on the radio.

It’s not that Hair Metal is dead - it’s had a revival that’s been going on nearly 20 years - it’s just that the revival is ignored out of Europe and niche corners of the Hard Rock side of the internet. A lot of those bands are out of Europe. Crazy Lixx, Crashdiet, Reckless Love and Hardcore Superstar come to mind but there’s a lot more more.
And Yacht Rock also has a decent set of groups that have been mining the sound like State Cows, Young Gun Silver Fox, Norwegian Fords, and select others. Kinda moreso just a lot of the Scandinavian Westcoast artists, though, and some slip more into Easy Listening, Neo-Soul, Jazz-Pop, AOR, etc, but some are still very Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers sounding.

I knew the part on disco would be poorly researched. Ha ha.
Although acts like Kylie and Daft Punk helped with resurgence for a mainstream audience (including me, disco never lost its popularity nor influence - thus it didn't die.
It became house music thanks to the likes of Frankie Knuckles, Larry Levan, Francois K, Chip E, Jesse Saunders and so much more.
If you properly researched it, you'd know that house music had been at the forefront of modern electronic music and festivals since the 80's. And still going strong to this day.
Disco isn't just a genre, it's a feeling and movement of which house music perfectly encapsualtes.
So, how can you say disco died when it never did Lol.

When was the last time you heard about a hot new classical composer who's taking the world by storm Classical music has the power to stand the test of time, making it a classic. There are many examples of famous classical composers in our time, however, especially composers of film scores. Classical pieces that are fan favorites tend to last decades, or even centuries, longer than most music genres tend to last. Composers like John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and John Barry are just a few who have contributed to the classical genre in our time. Classical music is certainly not dead!

how can you say any genre is dead. plenty of people still listen to these genre of music it's just not super mainstream. but your take on emo being dead is by far the worst. plenty of mega poular emo/punk/rock/screamo like I Prevail, Bring me the horizon, brand new, the used and i could continue a long time this video is really pointless and a little bit insensitive towards the bands or the artists that still play these genre tbh. love your videos but this one should not exist

I’d like to give a shout out to trip hop, a 90s genre that originated in Bristol and melded elements of hip hop, electronica, movie music and jazz. it was so influential for a while that no gritty british crime drama was without a trip hop trackmassive attack and portishead are the giants of the genre and it still feels fresh and different todayi think the genre label is a bit misleading in some ways.

Emo and Goth are still very much alive especially since My Chemical Romance came back and Panic at the Disco are still making music, I’ve even written a few songs that may not be heard by others but they should be proof that these genres are not dead. Outlaw Country is also very much alive. You really have no idea what you’re talking about. Grunge still exists as well and same for Nu Metal.

Three are just plain wrong. Pub rock is still huge, it's actually plain dumb to say bands like acdc, Airbourne, and until quite recently, Motorhead aren't still huge. Can't name three 21st century classical composers That's not because it's dead, that's because you're ignorant. And as much as it pains me to say it, nu metal bands still headline many of the biggest music festivals on earth.

Gangsta Rap and Drill and all the related styles amaze me the most. These guys don't just talk the talk, they actually shoot each other! And the media worships it - seems like every week they report the death of some unknown rapper who works at a Dairy Queen but got shot outside they club where he had just performed for free, as if he was John Lennon outside the Dakota.

No mention of Prog Rock King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Genesis, YES, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Rush, Jethro Tull, The Alan Parsons Project, there are many more others, that was incredibly short lived and monumental in the way of many of these other sub genre's of rock music

Disco and the sickening sound of pop music in the late 70's and 80's drove me into Jazz. I saw Dizzie Gillespie live, twice, Dexter Gordon, McCoy Tyner and the great Max Roach. Now I'm exploring Post Metal, Prog Rock and Metal, as well as some great World Music.

Uh, Classical music isn't dead.
Not even for a second.
Classical is a period of time (1750-1820. so there's no such thing as a modern classical composer.
Whoever wrote this doesn't know the difference between orchestral music and classical music.

Easy Listening, Swing/Big Band and Disco are still alive and well. Young people are discovering it again and not only enjoying it, but making their own contributions to them. Look up groups that have been formed in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, for example.

I'm 66, thru sheer luck I retired at 44 owning just one tie, a clip on. Maintained my sanity by avoiding any form of Yacht Rock. Christopher Cross & Toto CD's make good coasters. Gangsta Rap Your pants around your knees is not gangsta anything.

Grunge saved me from the nauseous glam rock that was pathetic and on the radio so often I thought I'd go insane. Sure, I graduated in 1985 & I hated that decade. I enjoyed Korn too, plus never put the Bee Gees down. That's was fun dancing music!
reply

I have graduated over since but hair metal was the first stuff I listened to when my older brother and yes I'm 40 years old which means I have a brother older than me I have two as a matter of fact got me a poison cassette tape

Easy Listening experienced a bit of a revival with artists such as Michael Buble. I'm surprised that a Canadian media company such as WatchMojo would ignore a Canadian artist such as Michael Buble. Epic fail on your part.

Nu metal scared parents Except for Slipknot, I thought it was specifically designed to not scare patents LOL Not true metal nor rap. Those tiny 'reballious' chim beards still acceptable for gnanma looked rediculous.

How did the New Jack Swing genre of music miss this list It was big in the urban music scene in the late 1980s to the mid-1990s. Musical influences ranging from Bobby Brown, Bell Biv Devoe, Color Me Badd, Boyz II Men.

There was a short lived type of music around the time Twin Peaks came out. It came and went faster than the television show itself. Probably the closest thing to it now would be Lana Del Rey. Was it ever given a name
