Having lived through HairMetal Motley Crew always felt like boy-band posers. G&R with Appetite should be well before them (meaning higher on the list)
At first blush I'd have put U2 lower on the list comparing to Achtung Baby then I looked at the track list. Bullet the Blue Sky, so, soo, good.
Then again Def Leopard Hysteria is has so many good songs I would have put it above Pyro personally. . Joshua, Appetite and Histeria all had so many good songs that albums before and after have trouble matching the count outside of greatest hits compellations (james brown, hendrix, joplin, al green, public enemy).
Had I to rank even removing pour some sugar, Hystria pound-for-pound and song-for-song would probably be the top. with Joshua being oh so, soooooo slightly above Appetite

I do have a few others I would have suggested that better fit the genre: Bob Seger released 3 albums including Against the Wind; the Kinks had their comeback in the 80s, releasing 5 albums, the first of which was Give the People What They Want; David Bowie had his most successful commercial success during that time with the Let’s Dance album; ZZ Top had Eliminator that went Diamond with 11 million records sold and 4 Billboard hits.

Nah, I disagree. For once, Permanent Vacation or Pump wasn't on there, Slippery When Wet should've been higher, Appetite should've been number 1, and Dr Feelgood should've been on the list. So you've got a lot of the right stuff IMO but they're in the wrong order and a few are missing

The Cure isn't rock. They're pop / goth. If they wanted to include an alternative group/album, then they should have went with REM/Document or Depeche Mode/Music for the Masses. Both are much more rock than The Cure, and both influenced music and culture more.

I feel Rush should have been here with ether moving pictures or signals and I’m surprised Michael Jackson wasn’t mentioned, in fairness I don’t think anybody’s top ten in music would be the same. That’s the best part of music!

They said they were excluding pop rock bands or pop rock albums and yet the first album is bon jovi. they're the definition of pop rock or soft rock. these lists make no sense and neither do the people putting them together

I think all these rock bands mentioned have something in common. They are still popular today, can play in arenas and stadiums all over the world and the songs from these albums are still played on the radio.

Doolittle, without a question, my favourite rock album of the 80s, which opens the doors to the next decade especially Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins. It should be in the list.

I owned 7 of these plus 2 of the honorable mentions. The top 5 for sure. Funny thing is that while I had Purple Rain and still love the album, I never saw the movie.

Back in Black should have been number one or number two because the album sold more world wide than almost any other except Michael Jackson's best selling album.

How do you come up with this list The honorable mentions could and should have been on the top 10. Genesis and Prince are great, but not Rock.

The '80s rock songs are what defined my generation! I love every single one of these! But I have to say that Prince and U2 are still my favorite!

disintegration should’ve been higher Not only one of the best rock albums of the 80’s, but one of the best albums of the 80’s period.

No Smiths or Sonic Youth triggers me, indie is the most influential rock music from that time, and there’s barely any on this list
