(i knew this would be #1) UNDESERVED. 1000% of the pre-release hate was based EXCLUSIVELY on the fact that it was an all-female cast, like girls can't be ghostbusters and the backlash to ghostbusters afterlife just proves that ghostbusters fans want the impossible: to re-experience the original ghostbusters movie for the first time. and don't try to tell me it wasn't misogyny, the hate train started the instant the cast was announced, when that was literally the only thing anyone knew about the movie.

As someone who's a fan of the Ghost in the Shell anime, TV show, books, etc. - Scarlett Johanson and possible whitewashing didn't bug me. The Major is a brain in a robotic body, and the exact appearance of that body has varied over different media already. It's a slight disappointment, but not anything which would have turned me off from the movie.
What did turn me off was that I could easily see scenes in the trailers from both of the original movies - which have widely different plots and stories. (And even characters) Which meant that whatever movie they were making was copying the imagery of Ghost in the Shell, but not the plot. Given that the plot, the exploration of what it means to be human in a world where our bodies and even memories can be replaced, and what the line is between human and AI in the end, is the main draw, that was the main turn off to me.
While I'll admit I haven't watched the live action version, my understanding is that it focused on The Major's memories and how they had been manipulated, leaving her questioning who she is. Again, this is large departure from most of her characterization from the original, where she's a top-tier combat hacker and knows exactly who and what she is - but isn't always sure where that puts her on line between human and not, especially as she comes into contact with AI that can match her view of the world.

Saving Christmas (2014. Ironically, this was done by Kirk Cameron campaigning to get everyone to like the movie before release.
Postal (2007. Actually, pretty much anything by Uwe Boll could go here. But even fans of so bad it's good knew not to expect anything from this one.

Woke journalists was literally begging and hoping for something bad to happen during the Joker release. Then they seethed when they couldn't use anything to push their narrative. Woke journalists are a cancer. Like they full stop tried planting the seed hoping some mentally deranged white guy would take the bait and be influenced by that. Of course if any violence was carried out by a non-white guy those same journalists would have swept it under the rug just like they've been blatantly doing.

Movies are hated before their release if the trailer reveals that the canon of a beloved and/or historic franchise is not respected and honoured. If there is a leak indicating a bait and switch. If a studio defies future paying customers and casts somebody that is universally hated. If there is the slightest hint of pushing social agendas onto audiences. If beloved characters are unceremoniously killed off to make way for a new, diverse cast.

Oh yeah, another movie that got absolutely shat on even before it came out this year, Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate.
It was nothing like the original film. The original voice cast didn’t return, the new characters are bland and predictable, the story is rushed like crazy and the animation is cheap and poorly-rendered.
No wonder why the boy in the DreamWorks logo didn’t show up in that film.

Madame Webb and Battleship were okay. Obvious that there were too many rewrites and not enough focus in both of them. The Hunt is amazing! It makes fun of both sides and we need that again. Most of these shouldn't have made it out of development though.

a lot of the main characters in anime and manga have European and Western facial features and other physical characteristics so i can see why they would cast white actors. also, why was no one upset that a black actor was cast as K instead of a Japanese actor and in Death Note's defense. they did say it was a Western adaptation set in the US but sure, gloss over that fact Mojo.

Honestly, anime artists seem to do everything in their power to make their characters as Anglo as possible so casting white actors to play the roles have never bothered me to the extent it probably should (especially factoring in the colorism in most. ALL Asian cultures.
That being said, these movies wouldn't have been good WITH asians in the lead.

I agree with the death note one it’s horrible and what’s even dumber is no one realizes there have already been 3 amazing live action Japanese made adaptations the first two splitting the story into 2 and a half hour movies each and the last one focuses on the last days of L Lawliet and then recently there was a new one set around a new Kira coming

I really did not like the remake of ghostbusters even though it was written okay The movie had silly stretch scenes to kill time and could have had more dialogue than fluff. I was glad that they decide to do it different storyline than the original one and I wish Bill Murray was involved in the film more within the storyline.

CATS is fun onstage but really the only possibility for making a movie of it successfully would probably be animation. Instead we got this disaster and the additional humiliation of throwing in the marginally talented Swift in the hope that she would fill seats. Nothing could save this disaster.

Back to Black. While the movie isn't out in America yet, many people have criticized the movie for exploiting Amy Winehouse’s pain and trauma for entertainment and that we already have a documentary that treats her with humanity and empathy. The still shots weren't any better either.

I consider the Amazing Spider-Man as the true MCU Spider-Man. Tom Holland Spider-Man was a horrible mistake. I like Spider-Man, but I will never watch any Tom Holland Spider-Man movies in their entirety. I cheer a bit every time I see him turn to dust in Infinity War.
