This is definitely a decent list, but to call heavy metal rock, does a disservice to both genres. While Freddy Mercury is the top of _all_ lists as THE rock god, he is right above Robert Plant and Mick Jagger, who is such a frontman that the Rolling Stones are part of a singular place against The Beatles, because you only must had one at the top; shown by the sorter question: Beatles or Stones because no one loved both completely. (Anthony Bourdain used this question to decide between whose town he would visit) although I will say that you left Mark Sandman off of _this_ list. David Byrne should be on the other list.
With the three legends leading the rock pack, we have others who need to be on a 'rock and roll' list such as Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull, who practically need his own list. His vocal, flute and stage antics are _legendary. _ Sting is an idol. Peter Gabriel and Steve Perry are huge swings and a misses. Paul Rogers of Bad Company and his solo. David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, David Gilmore and oh so _many_ more!

Alice Cooper, Layne Staley, Scott Weilandthere were a lot of worthy male singers left off this list. We all knew that Freddie would be number one because of course, who else
That being said, I was extremely excited to see Chester Bennington make this list. He had another band that he fronted called Dead By Sunrise. Quite a different vibe than LP and a lot lesser known, but still amazing! He even took over STP for a couple years after Weiland left. One of my biggest regrets is that I never got to see him sing live. I still cry over his loss now, and my very first tattoo is in his honor. His voice literally saved my life. Definitely gone way too soon

Chris Cornell deserves top 3 though just by the sheer fact that he's the most talented singer and overall musician on the list. MOJO on this video didn't give him enough credit. imagine just one guy who can hit the high notes of Axl rose/Robert plant, rob halford, etc. But also the same low notes as Eddie Vedder, and can play guitar as good as slash or Toni iomi or better than Paul stanley or others, he plays piano as good as Freddie mercury, plays drums as well, and does all the stage antics the video credits eddie vedder with having done (he learned it directly from Chris.

I don't remember seeing Paul McCartney on your list, and I'd say he deserves a mention. That said, all four of the fab four were front men.
I would have put Robert Plant at number 1 and Freddy Mercury at 2, but that's just me.
Seems a shame to leave out Meatloaf, Elton John, David Bowie er, Michael Jackson, but they weren't front men they were the whole attraction.
As an Australian, I'd add Angry Anderson, Peter Garret, Graeme (Shirly) Strachan and the incomparable Jimmi Barnes. John Farnham he was another who was the whole act, not a front-man.

I don't contest the top 15 on this list, but where is:
1) Steve Perry of Journey. In the 80's girls swooned over him and his songwriting made Journey unforgettable.
2) Kevin Cronin of Reo Speedwagon. He wrote and performed songs that had girls crying over him.
3) Mickey Thomas of Starship. In the mid 80's this band was on top of the world with Mickey leading the way.
4) Geddy Lee of RUSH. Lead vocalist, keyboards, bass guitarist. A towering mountain of talent.

I'm glad to see Chris Cornell on the list, but he definitely deserves to be higher up on the list. He's hands down, unarguably the most talented vocalist on the list and half the people ahead of him aren't actually good front men they just so happen to lead popular bands that just so happen to have sold more albums than Chris did. A little bit biased and skewed towards popular opinion but still a good video.

layne staley definitely deserves to be on this list, vocals are unmatched and just great man in general. also i think the reason kurt wasn’t higher is because his live performances usually don’t display the full extent to his talent. he also liked to do this just to piss of fans. don’t get me wrong, he was a very great and talented frontman, just unfortunate in the aspect of live performance: (

While I agree with most of the names included in the list, I dont agree with the order most of them were slotted in. Dickinson and Hetfield are top 10, easy. Same for Dio. Dude from My Bloody Valentine shouldn't even be included. Heck, I'd put Chad Kroeger over Way. Grohl >Kobain. Cornell > Grohl.

1) Dan McCafferty from Nazareth and Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy and Dave Mustaine from Megadeth and Angry Anderson from Rose Tattoo were better than half of these.
2) A watchmojo list where Queen is #1 Didn't see that coming.
3) Edit: almost forgot Peter Gabriel, Genesis years.

first off, thanks for adding paul stanley to this list and secondly, miljenko matijevic of steelheart, michael sweet of stryper, the recently departed cj snare of firehouse and many other hair/glam/pop metal vocalists all need to be added to this conversation.

Where the F is Layne Staley on any of your rock countdowns! Alice In Chains & Layne are the most underrated people in all of music! Props for putting Chris Cornell on here, but leaving the greatest voice in rock off the list is crazy!

As a Seattle concert goer living in Washington do you know how many times I have seen Eddie Vedder come out and sing with other artists and bands, and never for himself running joke with my friends I bet Eddie’s here.
reply

Brad Delp Sebastian Bach Vince Neil (before you start hating, he should be there ahead of the dude from My Chemical Romance, Joey Ramone, Thom York, Steve Perry, Lou Graham David Coverdale Scott Weiland Sammy Hagar

You certainly have the number one front men correct. Not only was he a showman par excellence. His voice was unmatchable and he had a songwriting talent like crazy in a band that had three other great songwriters as well.
reply

Everyone praises the band, nobody gives the roadies and sound/lighting engineers their due. Freddy Mercury would be shouting in the dark without them. And the ticket booth people, big shout out to them.
reply

Gerard Way Seriously Ahead of Bono Ahead of Paul Stanley Ahead of Eddie Vedder Ahead of Dio That is ridiculous and wrong. And no Steve Perry No Layne Staley No Paul Rodgers No David Coverdale No Lemmy
reply

Sad not to see Ian Gillain, Steve Perry, Geddy Lee, Jon Anderson, Ray Davies, Damon Albarn, Paul Rogers, Brian Johnston, Lemmy Kilminster, Fred Schneider, Brian Connolly or Peter Gabriel on the list.
reply

The fact that Anthony Kiedis made this list over both Layne Staley and Mike Patton is just laughable this is just a bonafide list of mainstream shlock for normies who dont have a clue.
reply

Some true Greats on here. Freddy Mercury is the GOAT.
But. James Hetfield should have been WAY higher. Late 80s, early 90s. He OWNED every single person in PACKED stadiums and arenas.

reply

I totally disagree with Mick Jagger at #3, definitely should have been lower down list. Freddie Mercury #1, YES! RIP Freddie, Kurt, Chris Cornell, and all the other greats not mentioned.
