Hairdresser reacts to girls trying to balayage their own hair amy: I actually did the paddle brush technique once when I was doing my highlights. I did regular highlights with foil on the top and sides because they were going to be seen more, and I then used the paddle brush on the underlayer. This way if it didn't work out well, no one would see it. Once the mixture was in the underlayer, I went through it with a fine-tooth comb to drag the highlight solution through the length, and this seemed to help a bit more. Did it come out perfect? No. Did it come out looking workable (especially for an underlayer? Yeah. What also would have made the paddle brush method a little better would be if she applied the highlight/bleach mixture to the brush using a squeeze bottle instead of simply plopping it onto the brush
Recently I had a thought of something I wanted to try using the paddle brush technique. I'm thinking of doing highlights, then going in with a burgundy-colored dye over the highlights. This way the dark red will immediately go right to the highlights and create colored highlights. Again, this would be just on the underlayer in case it doesn't come out perfect.

Do clarifying treatments work for natural blonde hair? My son has bright blonde but as he ages it is getting darker and he wants to make it brighter again. He is in high school so its all starting to matter to him, like we just spruced up his wardrobe with a new look for him. I just want to support him and help him find himself. So if you have any tips to help I would appreciate it. His dad had bright blonde and I had golden and both of our hair is brown now just from life. We were young when we had him so we understand it being important to him as we are in our 30s and he is 16. Thank you for your time.

i reverse balayaged my hair (root melt, & i knew that it probably wouldn't turn out the best. i was aiming to extend my root color (medium brown, and then have an ashy pearl color for the blonde. i am so excited to say that i literally did SO good! all thanks to brad mondo because i studied and used his balayage tutorials to semi-know what i was doing XD it came out darker than expected, but i honestly didn't mind bc i LOVE itttt

She may have bought color instead of toner because the wella bottles of toner and color look the same and are put together side by side on Sally's shelves. That could explain why it looks non streaky and blended so well and why she only kept it in for 20mins because unlike toner it was quickly darkening her newly bleached hair and she freaked out and washed it out.

Brad I asked for a balayage on my virgin hair this Saturday and my hair stylist didn't seem to know exactly what a balayage was, even though she said she did. I came out with almost stripes of dark dark brown and then grey and golden blonde. And my bangs were literally purple. Is there any way of saving this or should I just vibe with it?

Brad- Clarifying treatments take out all that Brassy yellow.
Girl- It looks a lot less Brassy.
Brad- Brassy! I hate that word! Brassy! Brassy! If they could just take that word out of the dictionary!
You're so funny Brad Mondo! You used the word Brassy right before she used it then say you hate it. LOL

Electricity is fire. Its not artificial lighting. Its a different kind of natural than natural lighting. I think the term natural lighting is more of a joke just because of that. Dont take it literally. Ok people. She said artificial lighting. So I had to comment on it.

I've been stuck watching your videos for like 3 hours and just really need to do something with my hair. As a fellow professional stylist I feel your pin watching some of these but I always love a good outcome

I used to do something like this when I was in high school. Id have my mom whos a licensed stylist help me she would buy me my products and use flat duck clips on my pieces and she would let me go to town

Thanks to Brad I learned it was my hairdresser that was really messing up my blond hair lights. Every 6-8 weeks she would bleach the entire strand again and again. My hair is so much healthier now.

Theres no way. The first girl probably ended up going to a salon for a fix. And they still probably couldnt completely fix it so she should that. Because that shit already looked toned hahaha

that last girls hair looks so damaged, I dont know how shes happy with that, I think Id rather have somewhat brassy, dull hair than hair thats visibly dry, frazzled, & compromised

I want Brad Mondo to do my color sooooooooo bad. He knows his stuff and has a good eye for what works for someone. There would be no fear because I know that I would be in good hands.

I love how we are supposed to believe that these videos have not been watched ahead of time by Brad and his crew to where people are coincidentally mentioning him in the video. OK!
