I tested 5 purple shampoos to see which is the best Kim: So, I had heavy icy blonde highlights done the past couple of months. I went in yesterday for a touch up, the water here is so crappy, it turned the icy blonde to that goldilocks color and no one could give me a straight answer on how often to use the purple shampoo and conditioner. I wound up buying Biolage because I know and trust that brand but also read L'oreal Everpure did the trick really well and for way less moola but I always go with what I know so, we'll see. Not crazy about some of the Everpure shampoos, some are great and one is really bad, just weighs down my hair too much so I didn't want to try the purple shampoo from them just yet. I am glad I found your video with these other options that are far cheaper than Biolage. My hairdresser did not know how often to use it but she suggested using it every day, starting today or whenever I wash my hair next. She asked another girl working next to her and she said no, only 2 -3 times per week. They couldn't agree, so I am not certain how often to use it? I also bought the Biolage brand because it had more extracts in it and seemed like it would be more moisturizing, I thought if I have to use it every time I shampoo, I better get a good one. She told me because she did not use purple shampoo herself she did not know exactly how often to use it. My thought was, if you are a professional, shouldn't you know how to use all the products you sell whether you use them or not? I loved my hair but her knowledge seemed very limited. NOt sure if I want to go back to her or not. What would you suggest?

Im a natural light blond whos hair color went bonkers in my 50s. I looked like Id had a VERY bad hair coloring attempt. everything from a dark brown/with a hint of auburn, light brown/dark blond, my natural light blond, a few strands of strawberry blond. and gray. And NOT a pretty gray like my uncles. I had one girl tell me it could have been due to my Graves Disease & other issues including a genetic disorder which had made my natural blonde like fine baby hair (I also have no nails or kneecaps & bad teeth. so it makes sense. I started using box color-but not very often. A few years ago I had let most of it grow out, hoping Id have my uncles natural shiny light silver, almost white. NOPE. My daughter suggested bleaching, then adding one of these purple shampoos. I got the John Frieda, tried several times, it did absolutely nothingwhich is why my dear Son started sending me colors such as in my avatar. It took 4 tries, I finally went mostly pink. But he REALLY wanted me to go blue. which, unfortunately, he never got to see before he passed last year. Tomorrow, my stepdaughter is coming over to try your haircut method. My hair is so thinned out that my best friend has tried to convince me to get a wig. I have a VERY sensitive scalp and just dont think I could tolerate one. Besides, Im still home hibernating. and Ill just throw on a hat if Im going out. Sent you an email, but I know you get thousands. Im kind of at a loss

Id really like him to do a test video of xmondo purple shampoo!
My daughter has albinism and finding a purple shampoo for her hair has been a chore!
Some we have to use multiple times to get the results we want with out either turning purple on the roots or having grey hair and for an 11 year old grey is a non option due to the horrible bullying she has encountered for having already white hair last thing we need is grey for more old lady jokes!
But then her hair is horribly dry and tangled its so thick and the amount of product we have to use is a point of contention that makes matters worse.
I can say this video has shown me a few more options to try and thankful to see results before hand.

When I first started to get my medium brown hair highlighted it left my hair stylist flabbergasted. Evidently looking at its texture and natural color it appears it would bleach out easily. No. Just no. First time ever my niece and I go and the stylist keeps peeking at my foils going why isnt it working? Eventually he gives up takes out my foils and the other stylists in the shop starts to tease him Oh my God you gave her YELLA hair! So he spent a lot of time toning me and it was lovely. I was told to tell all future stylists that I have hair like an Asian and to use the strongest bleach theyve got. So I doand they always look doubtful but they do it and it works.

SO, I just recently purchased the oribe blonde shampoo and after the first use, I swear it made my hair even more orange than it was before. And I left it on for quite a long time. I was so unbelievably disappointed. But thankful that I never have to buy it again. What a total waste of money. I also tried the Kevin Murphy blonde shampoo, it also did nothing to tone my hair. The most recent one I tried is the olaplex purple shampoo and it actually worked, I saw my hair lighten and tone. It may take a few times to really take the yellow out but please DO NOT waste your money on oribe. It doesnt even smell that nice

You give lots of great information and the scent is very important to me. I've been using Diva Curl in large part because I LOVE the way it smells. I hate chemical perfume-y smells, and Diva Curl uses essential oils to scent them. Anyway, I'm transitioning to gray and have just begun the process by stripping out the red and toning it to my natural mousy brown color. What's coming in is very salt & pepper looking. I realize you're addressing your wheelhouse - blond hair - but I would love to see a version of this for brunettes trying to transition to gray.

Hello Brad, So happy I find you! Please consider testing VEGAN Purple etc. shampoos, conditioners, hair masks - what products are best for: NATURAL Hair Color is Dark Blonde/Medium/Light Brown. Blonde streaks would appear during summer in ocean/sun (did NOT use ANY product on hair. Now I get Blonde streaks at the salon. I would like to use the best VEGAN products that will keep my hair toned. I am afraid to use any VEGAN blue hair products. I do NOT want my hair to become lighter. Your presentations are great. Thank you so much! D

I never liked Shimmer lights simply because of the smell. Very chemically. There are other purple shampoos that smell much more pleasant. I have used Fanola before. It's good, but I'm a scientist. I like to experiment. My hairdresser has said that Matrix makes the best purple shampoo. I just ordered some So Silver from Matrix. Has anyone else had experience with it? I'm going for the Elsa look for winter.

Did anyone else think the hair extensions already looked fckin great? Lol like if my hair lifted to that color every time i bleached it, life might not be so bad. Im over here purple shampooing my neon yellow hair with hopes itll do SOMETHING to it (it was IroIro orange but instantly faded to make me look like a highlighter) I only did half my head bc i couldnt fully commit to blonde again

The new bomb is Olaplex Silver shampoo Im blonde and I been using lots of purple shampoo but Olaplex Silver shampoo is one of the best on the marketing right now! Give a try girls. Just be careful if your blonde hair are too open cells without previous toning watch the time because your hair may turn purple very fast because the product really works.

I use the Olaplex No. 4P two or three times a week. It gets rid of all the orange in my balayage, but doesnt turn it white or silver. It just leaves me with a nice, cool blonde. Its a little pricey at $28 a bottle, but Ive tried several different kinds and its the only one that gives me the results I want without effecting my hairs texture.

Purple stuff works good on gray and silver hair. It takes the yellow out and brightens dull hair.
I used the stuff in the 80s on little old ladies. They came to get their roller sets every week. We only used Purple stuff maybe once a month or less.
Shimmer Lights started as a product for gray haired grannies.

Thank you for making this wonderful video! It is very helpful. If your blond and you want use purple shampoo to make your hair purple, how long do you need to leave the shampoo in? Also will it just fade in to the original color in a few weeks or will you have to get a new toner to put it back to its original color?

I F-ing LOVE YOU! You are adorable, Smart, Witty and super funny! I could watch you all day. Funny thing is. I am probably not your typical audiance, my friend! I am a Single, 58 year old, Grandmother who, Yes, Bleaches her hair at home (But not from a box, lol) Thank you for being just YOU!

Brad now that you have your own purple shampoo, it would be awesome to do a shampoo test like this but without knowing what brand is what until the end. Like a blindfolded test without the blind folds. Then after rating them you find out which is what.
