Blueberry yum yum easy no-bake dessert - recipe: 1 lb (453g) cream cheese 22 oz (1. 2kg) canned blueberry pie filling (or homemade recipe, see below) 2 cups (1 pint, 473mL) cream 3 cups (250g) graham cracker crumbs (about 20 of the big rectangular crackers) 1 + 1/4 cups (200 + 50g) granulated sugar, divided 1 1/2 sticks (6 oz, 170g) butter 1/4 cup (40g) powdered sugar fresh blueberries or other fresh fruit for garnish (optional) Leave out your cream cheese at room temperature to soften if you forget to to this, you can unwrap it and microwave it on very low power until just soft. Melt your butter and stir it thoroughly into the cracker crumbs along with 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar. Scoop out about 1/3 cup (50g, I dunno) of the mixture and set it aside. Dump the rest into any wide, flat dish Brenda uses a 9x13 inch (23x33cm) glass baking dish and pat it down firmly into the bottom and sides. Chill this firm while you get everything else ready. Beat a cup (200g) of granulated sugar into the softened cream cheese until just smooth. In a separate bowl, combine the cream and powdered sugar and beat until you get soft peaks (this is easier if the cream is cold. Gently fold the cream cheese mixture into the whipped cream and then beat it just enough until smooth excess beating will deflate the cream. Get the chilled crust out, drop in half of the dairy mixture in dollops and spread it to a smooth layer. Dump in the blueberry pie filling and spread it smooth. Dump on the rest of the dairy mixture in dollops and spread smooth (watch the video for Brenda's drop-and-roll technique. Sprinkle the top with the reserved crumb mixture and garnish with fresh berries. Chill firm before you eat it. Homemade pie filling 3 pints (about a kilo) fresh blueberries 1 cup (200g) sugar 1/4-1/2 cup (30-60g) cornstarch, depending on how thick you want it water fresh lemon or lime juice (optional) optional spices (cloves, cinnamon and other Christmassy spices are nice) Combine the berries and sugar in a pot over high heat. You can just stir them until the berries start to break down, but you can accelerate the process by mashing them up a bit yourself. Boil until the berries have started to break apart but you still have very big chunks. Dissolve the cornstarch into a smooth slurry with as little water as possible and drizzle it into the boiling berries, stirring constantly. If you want it more acidic, stir in citrus juice to taste, along with maybe a pinch of salt and any spices you like. Chill before using

I grew up in a small farming community around a lot of people who really had to scrape to make ends meet. You washed and dried your plastic bags, used ancient Miracle Whip or gallon jug ice cream containers for storage, hunted and used EVERY part of the deer to stretch food out for the year, and made giant inexpensive desserts like this that could feed a whole extended family. Brings back memories. A favorite of mine is still shoo-fly cake and pie, made with molasses.

Watched videos from a year or so ago of you and a supposed take-down of you on deep fat frying. The difference in your views revolves around what you said in this video living in the real world. Having raised 3 children and often having lots of other kids in the house, I am all about living in the reality in which you can t clean up every splash of grease right away and blueberry pie filling is okay because you don t have the time for making it from scratch.

Interestingly, we have Yum Yums in the UK. They're basically a soft twisted bread stick that's been dipped in sugar glazing, effectively a stick doughnut. Curious to see the same name for an entirely different thing!
Edit - most of Europe appears to have these in some form, i've seen them marketed in Spain as Yum Yums on holiday too now I think of it!

We have a version of this in my country called monchou pie, where monchou is a specific brand of cream cheese. Instead of graham crackers and blue berries, it s with bastogne cookies, a spiced brown sugar cookie, and cherry pie filling. If you can get Bastogne cookies where you live highly recommend trying them in this recipe

For those who want to do this exclusively at a supermarket: 1 big container of Cool-Whip w/ 1/2 cup sugar mixed in, 1 graham cracker pie crust, 1 block of cream cheese, 1 can of blueberries. Dump the cool-whip mix into the pie crust. Top with the canned blueberries. Refrigerate. Enjoy!

Hi Adam (or anyone else that can answer this! Do you think it would be possible to make this with pie filling other than blueberry. Sadly, most of my family does not like blueberry pie, so I m wondering if it can be made with say cherry or pumpkin pie filling?

I'm curious if anyone else has had issues with the portion sizes of these meal kit programs? I tried Hello Fresh for a couple weeks with Adam's link, but the meals always felt a little small for my appetite. Maybe that's just a college student thing?

I think I figured out what I'm going to do today we're going to make brownies but it's too damn hot going to make this but have to split the recipe into way too much for my small family it looks amazing though

I make a recipe very similar to this. Sometimes I do the homemade crust, but often times I use the ready crust in a disposable pan. This allows me to make 4-6 pies, that we give away during the holidays.

Yeah I've seen the govt white canned meats and actually the cereal wasn't bad tasted like the cheap stuff but all in all you could do some good cooking with the food with the right spices and stuff
