We're giving 180 a try with this one, so this is best viewed in a VR headset, cardboard or mobile Make sure to increase the quality setting for the best experience Padma Lakshmi visits the Bon Apptit Test Kitchen to make very fancy scrambled eggs with champagne with Carla. number 1 -- NO MORE VR. number 2 -- if this is supposed to be a professional chef, she should NEVER let a novice saber a champagne bottle yes, it's done to add dramatic effect, but i was cringing at the intro at padma wacking repeatedly at the bottle, that cork could have flown off at any time with the amount of time they spent looking for the bottle seam (you should ALWAYS keep your thumb on the cork ANY TIME the cage is off) and if done incorrectly, pieces of glass can fall into the bottle. i would have shut done production if this was my shoot DANGEROUS on so many levels

Love Carla. Love Padma. Love BA. Already irritated that my typing is making the VR move. Anyways, this decision was a yikers, and if it was sponsored, what was Google thinking. Like people already hated how that video shot on a phone looked, so you mustve known people would hate this. A whole cool video wasted. You couldve just done like a couple minutes long test kitchen tour if you wanted to just try out VR.

Yo To all the people complaining about the VR: watch in a chrome tab. If you watch the video on Chrome, not the official app, the video isn't in VR. The cuts are quick and a little bit annoying, but the overall video quality is good. If you ignore the lighting of course. I don't know how this will work on a PC, but if you have a phone any browser that isn't the official app with avoid the VR format.

Made these as soon as the video ended. I made a few changes though: added parmesan in the egg mixture, skipped the whipped cream (and also truffles, because I'm broke) and instead of the egg shell, I put everything on toast, garnished with more parmesan, a tiny bit of chilly flakes, finely chopped parsley and yellow pear cherry tomatoes. Bon apple teeth, everyone

Did you know that while the video plays if you touch the image with your finger you can simply change the angle and never need to move your phone? It makes VR fairly palatable/no big deal. As for the recipe, I can't imagine ever eating egg out of the shell is a great experience, although it's pretty looking. Whip cream on scrambled eggs is interesting.

The VR is nice but for this it was hard to concentrate on what was being shown because the camera jumped back and forth. Would be nice if there was VR and non VR uploaded versions for those people. And would be nice if instead of jumping between people in this one it was just 360 VR it would be easier to follow.

I don't like the VR thing, but I feel bad cuz they probably spent huge amounts just to edit it like this. Edit: Does the VR thing mess up other videos for anyone else? Like it temporarily zooms in the part of the screen and you can't see the rest, unless you refresh? Yeah. definitely not a fan of this.

OOOoooohh y'all are gonna learn the hard way with this VR thing. Refinery29 tried to do VR on one of their most popular series and people would rage on and refuse to watch. Learn from Refinery29 and kill the VR vids until better technology is made from the viewer's perspective.

Ok the format took some getting used to. Selected 2160s for quality and it was fantastic. I did not have to point my phone to ceiling since I was lying down. lol. This was such a great episode. Padma was fantastic. Probably the best performing celebrity in this series.

For me, the VR didn't end up taking too much away from the experience. The cooking was fun, your personalities are ever brilliant, and the editing was solid. However, it didn't add anything, and with such a big change I feel like it really should have more payoff.
