Molly Baz is joined by internet sensation Tuna (her dog) to learn how to make dog food from scratch. Can she master dog food? And more importantly, would you eat dog food that Molly Baz made? Maik Meier: Dogs do not need green vegetables - they can eat them and it will not harm them, but they can get gassy. They should not eat starch heavy foods (although they can handle it once in a while) because of the high diabetes risk. They synthesize their own vitamin C in the liver. Most of their vitamin needs will be taken care of by eating meat and organs.

Yall, this video was absolutely adorable. However-If you plan to make your own dog food with organs please keep in mind that it does not exceed 10% of the diet. Liver is a maximum of 5% of the diet. Bone 10%. Organs should technically be fed raw. If dogs eat too much it can overload the body in Vitamin A. Which will be extremely uncomfortable for them. Please make sure you do your research before making your pets own food so that you can make your best judgement. If it seems too complicated many local pet stores carry raw food with the appropriate percentages. :)

I would be willing to bet that 99% of people who cook meals for their dogs do not have kids (and at least 75% are single. No middle-class, busy adult with a family has the time, money, or motivation to treat their dog like a human child. In my experience as a vet tech, I found most of the pet nutrition thing to be a racket for childless rich people.

Even if there's a real correlation between dogs eating human food and living 2 years longer, the explanation could also be that the people who are willing to put in the time and effort to do that for their pets are also more likely to properly exercise them and pay for surgeries and medicine.

Dogs that eat real food live longer? Doesn't brand matter? Screw this. I feed what my vet recommends (she doesn't sell it) I don't trust hipster dog food nutritionists. What's her qualification? Did everyone just assume she's right? Thanks, I won't be shamed and I'll listen to my vet.

Molly: What if she started talking? Tuna: You utter fool. I've expressed my disinterest many times. How else must I portray my feelings. Return me to the homestead at once and allow me to fondle your pillow, else wise experience my wrath. Molly: Aha that's so silly Tuna.

Vet here: BARF (or bone and raw food) is a good way to make specialized food for your dog, BUUUUUT only of you know what you're doing (and 20 min bon appetit is definitely not enough. If you just do it, you can actually cause more damage.

Feeding dogs just kibble is like feeding them crackers every day. The truth is that they pretty much enjoy the same foods we do except, of course, the myriad things they cannot, for purposes of toxicity or dietary reasons, consume

Does anyone else get suspicious of the Dog Doctor when she says that a carnivore needs veg in their diet? Poor Tuna, she's in for it. Now I'm wondering if it was the Dog Doctor's idea to sit creepily at the table in the background.
