Join Carla in the Bon Apptit Test Kitchen as she makes a salted caramel-chocolate tart You can use a 9 or 10 tart pan, but the layers will be thinner in the larger pan. We also found that Morton kosher salt wont dissolve completely in the caramel filling, so use Diamond Crystal for the best results for this tart recipe. Then, a generous sprinkling of flaky sea salt before serving brings out the flavor of the chocolate and tempers the sweetness of the caramel

it's so incredibly strange how one's personality on screen can determine how i feel about watching their videos. For some reason that I haven't figured out yet, i can watch every video featuring Carla and Claire no matter what it is they're making. It's either the way they speak or how they present their instructions that makes it easy to watch them. Then there's Brad and it's obvious why i like his videos cuz the guy's hilarious and has a lot of energy and his interactions with Vinny is priceless. I think they should bring Matty back on but maybe alter the way they do the show so that Matty has more to do. Cuz the last video where they made fish taco's, Matty looked out of place and bored out of his mind. Maybe collaborate a recipe with him instead of showing him how to make something so it can be a duo instructional presentation. Cuz the last video looked like 2 alpha's trying to compete for the spotlight.

Made this today and found it to be really challenging tbh. The caramel took FOR EVER to come together and the I (my fault) kinda burned the caramel so it became really cristalized. I thought I'd fixed it by just melting it again, but after letting it coll to put into the tarte bottom It'd cristalized again. So Now I have this hella crunchy tarte. Anyone knows what happened? So I can fix it next time I'm up for making a challenging tarte. Still good I guess, but do not underestimate the difficulty of this tarte. Looks incredible (havent tasted, as it's a present) but takes a lot of time (3 seperate delicate layers. Thanks for the inspiration though, Carla

It's upsetting to see that not only did Carla stigmatize CBD use by talking like a stoner to the person making a CBD smoothie when CBD helps so many people with its medicinal benefits ranging from pain management to stomach issues to epilepsy treatment, but the fact that the BA staff included it in the video they released is extremely unfortunate. As someone who uses CBD for treatment and has dealt with a lot of hate from people who are ignorant on the subject or give you flack/think it's funny to joke about CBD users being stoners, this behavior from Carla and BA made me not want to watch the rest of the video.

I made this and it turned out AMAZING. I'm terrible at rolling pie dough and struggled a bit, but the instructions were clear and really helped. Thanks BA for the great recipe, I'm going to do it again for mother's day: D(and also, a request from international viewers, to be even more adored, could the BA recipes pleeeease also have the amounts in the metric system? it would make the life of literally everyone outside the US a lot easier. thank you

It is incredibly frustrating watching this video. First of, cant u just list the exact measurements of ingredients used as they pop up on the screen? And as you are describing colours, textures it signs to watch for. so on. as you cook, the camera person isnt zoom in and show us what you are talking about. very poorly done as a team between the baker and camera person. go watch American test kitchen and learn it from them.

I saw this and had to click cause I was like wait. didn't Claire make this? and then the video starts and just aaaaaaaaaa glad I wasn't going crazy lol. I've never made the actual tart as a whole but I've made the salted caramel and the ganache individually to use them for a cake I was making and they were delicious It was my first time making caramel and it definitely found a place in my recipe binder

I am so used to Tasty, but what I love about this is that she teaches you the recipe and she also teaches you why the ingredients works and contribute to making the dish a better dessert and what I love most about it is that the things that they teach you, you can use this methods to make your other dishes even better. Where as Tasty only teaches about the dishes in Tasty 101,

I know I'm late but here are some dough tips: refrigerate your dough in the shape of your pan, meaning make a round disk if it's going in a round pan or rectangle in a rectangular pan. Another tip is that if you want to avoid cracking, smack your dough with the rolling pin until it gets to about. 25-. 5 inches

Carla is BOSS. I have so much respect for this wonderful chef. One of my personal favorite videos from the Bon Appetit test kitchen is the cheese journey Molly and Carla embarked upon. The sisterly bonding was a delightful complement to the final conclusion of their collaboration.
