Using aluminum for anything in my book is a huge mistake. Especially aluminum with anything that is going into the human body. Once you see the long term effects that are caused by using aluminum you would never want to have anything to do with aluminum ever again. I don't really care if they say the aluminum is food safe I don't buy it. When you see what Alzheimer's disease does to a human being and their family you will never want to use aluminum for anything ever again. Is their a baking pan option that is free from such a toxic and frankly evil heavy metal element?

Claire, thank you so much for reminding me what I was missing when I was (ahem) younger. Made the recipe with the Lankato Monkfruit sugar substitute, I can out fluffy and perfect Yes the sugar sub does leave a tiny after taste in the cake, but with the fruit (cherries and strawberries, the after taste is gone. So I was able to enjoy a reduced sugar desert. Claire you are the best. Brad, not so much. lol

I have to admit, I loved angel food cake when I was a kid, but as an adult, I much prefer chiffon cake which is basically the same but uses the yolk as well as the whites (not 14 of them. Angel food cake seems rubbery to me now. Chiffon cakes uses that same tube pan and is so delicious layered with pastry cream and fruit.

thanks a lot for getting me to spend 50 dollars on a proper tin, jk but seriously I wish I saw this video sooner, my family has always had one of those non stick pans and when I tried to make angel food cakes they always fell and turned dense. I love angel food cakes and I'm so excited to start baking them again

I wonder if it would be possible to make the meringue with tore bought egg whites (the ones that come in a half and half container. I made Swiss meringue buttercream once using them and it was an epic fail. I wasn't sure if it was poor technique or if it was the store bought whites.

does this cake have to be made in that kind of pan? i mean i understand that it would be maybe a little harder to rest a cake upside down if it's a different shape but what about like a loaf pan or something? i guess i should just get one of those pans but ugh

One question: Why does angel food cake need a tube pan? why cant u make AF in cupcake or other cake pans? I ask because after watching many videos on how to make this cake, where everything gets explained. The reason for using this type pan was never mentioned.

I've become so conditioned by gourmet makes for things to go wrong for Claire that when she was flipping over the cake I expected it to all fall apart and we'd get a shot of her leaning on counter, head in her hands saying We need to start over

I love angel food cakes I ate them all the time growing up, but Ive never had them homemade lol (my mom can be a lazy cook haha) I definitely need to try making this. Ive been wanting to dive into the world of cakes for a hot minute now
