its for people who don't have access to some of the natural aromas, a fast way to learn also. honestly i wouldnt spend on it but i can see why its useful - its just important to note that the idea of a generic or aggregate smell of ALL lemons is itself not really a lemon. since theres so much more to smelling different lemons, and isolating a defining scent is ambiguous and not accurate since it blends into other scents which are not necessarily lemony. i think its more important to associate scent with a memory rather than a particular chemical. that way, wine drinking becomes more fun and less like a scientific project. also, its critical not to become a snob and think one has superior tastebuds compared to others - each person has different sensitivity levels to different scents, and some may be more attuned compared to others, the mistake would be to assume that one must be able to pick out xyz flavors in order to enjoy wine, as opposed to picking out x1y1z1

Oh I love this One thing I have issues with with wine is that I have a very underdeveloped palette I was very picky eater when I was younger and I've only just started expanding my palate and so it's hard for me to recognize certain sense and notes and flavors and whatnot because I just don't have any experience with them so this is awesome

The idea of these kits is ok, but do you need the kit to understand the difference between lemon and orange. - You need to smell the real ingredients to memorize. If you have to open the bottles frequently ( professional/semi-professional environment) the will
oxidize. Le Nez du Vin is a fun game for amateurs.

Love my kit. it is a great help but I am still the geek who still licks rocks and sniffs all the produce and baked goods at my store (yes I do buy them first. The kit is also fun for our tasting group to test ourselves. We did a fault night a while back that was very interesting!

I wonder if a way to use the kit to help your training is to smell two (or three) vials simultaneously.
As a sommelier, are you ever tempted to take a few of these into the dining room to educate the customers (Or sometimes, to make them STFU)

Thanks for the video. I do have difficulty placing certain aromas, so the kit looks very helpful! I'm not a professional, so the price is somewhat prohibitive. But I like the concept of learning more about these aromas as much as I can.

The important part as mentioned (0: 22) is to apply the aroma information to best communicate with guests. Using woody/berry (blackcurrant, spicy almond/musk (hawthorn, or honey citrus/lemon (linden, for example, might be more relatable

that's VERY cool mr. mack! would love a kit like that to improve my skills (my current level is observing the wine, sipping the wine, and then announcing how the wine is either a white or a red.

I would SO love to see wine sommelier try the coffee Q grading exams. It’s the coffee equivalent. In coffee, we use Le Nez du Cafe. It would be such a cool video.

GREAT presentation! And I was floored when he spoke of bell pepper, bc thats what I recently told my hub when I thought a bottle of red was bad. How cool!

How the sausage is made: wine tasting reduced to olfactory flashcards, or. .. How I learned to sound sophisticated by memorizing these little bottles.

Very informative. i can only seem to catch the smell of alcohol, so it was nice to hear that it is common when you are starting out on the wine journey.

I tried the coffre variation of this at a coffee roaster in Hawaii. It was a super fun experience, and I was really proud of identifying the potato one!

Even a kit for the faults. Wow! Side note: I enjoyed that Valravn chardonnay when I was in LA last year and I'd love to try the pinot noir.

Love Andre! I wish you would explain things even more. Like he tells us something bad, but doesn’t tell us why it’s bad-I wanna know!

I though that bottle at 7: 00 was a screw cap so when you started using the bottle opener it scared me and confused me lol
