It is impossible to deny the allure of a soup dumpling a perfectly portioned package of goodness, steamed and stuffed with flavor. At the East Villages Drunken Dumpling, the love affair goes one step further, blowing up the Xiao Long Bao to an epic size (seriously: you have to eat this with a straw. On this episode of Consumed, Eater NY news editor Serena Dai and host of The Meat Show Nick Solares visit the establishment to sample some of their supersized wares

The host in this episode and the Ichiran Ramen episode really needs to step up her game. She really does not hold up to the same standards as Nick and Lucas when it comes to featuring food and describing their flavours and texture. She says its a literal interpretation of a soup dumpling, when it's not an interpretation at all. It could just be simply described as soup in a dumpling as Nick said. And in the Ichiran Ramen episode, she just uses buzzwords like rich, flavourful and enveloping and doesn't actually describe the broth's flavour at all, and if you've had Ichiran in Japan you know that her feature did not do it justice.

Where's the dipping vinegar sauce! And you don't shove an entire hot steamed dumpling into your mouth, silly! Bet you had a burned tongue after that, huh? Turn the dumpling on its side on the spoon and take a small bite out of the side so the steam can come out. Then either suck out the soup or wait for the entire dumpling to cool before you mouth the whole thing.

Watching the two of you eat both the large size and the regular sized soup dumplings was cringe worthy as an Asian. Please. if you're going to do something, at least research beforehand how to do it right. So you can at least do the food you're eating justice. Or else it's basically just a wash and waste of time for people to try and imagine what the flavor is like.

2: 03 well it is a soup dumpling, so there's supposed to be soup inalso Xiao long Baos aren't Soup dumplings - coz they're small shrimp dumplings + diff wrapperidk if it's a wrong translation but have been seeing Xiao Long Bao being translated to Soup dumplings before (and Soup dumplings = Tang bao) and I don't get it how ppl can get it wrong (esp chinese ppl)

Eater you know I love you but I'm starting to see understand the negative comments perspective. The lady used the word, soupy come on. I excuse yall for a lot of stuff because i love seeing the food and that is enough for me. I would love to have videos that have more professional and expressive hosts. It goes along way, please listen to your viewers.

Fellas / As a Chinese American living in Asian past 6 years let me drop some bars. The soft skin acts as a beautiful pouch to keep the savoury floral notes from pork soup and tender meat filling while adding a splash of vinegar cuts through the meat with a hint of tartness while ginger provides added spice. - Asian food nerd

I live in the middle of bloody central Europe and I know that You should use chopsticks. Not tongs. A comment Mmm soupy while eating a SOUP dumpling was very professional. Step up your game people. If a shmuck like me knows the ways of the dumpling better than you there should be something wrong with you.

It's soupy! Oh no, honey, do we need to start getting gold stars with sarcastic sayings on them for every weirdly bland comment you make? Like you tried and stick it on a chart so when you hit 10 Kat will take you to the same sushi place they always go to?

This is a silly version of xiao long bao, which come from shanghai, and even most chinese shun it, especially those who really love XLB. Shanghai makes bad XLB already (they did not origin there, but Wuxi) and these big versions are just horrible.
