Has Odd Seoul Improved on the Big Mac? K-Town

Has Odd Seoul Improved on the Big Mac? K-Town

On today's episode of K-Town, Matthew Kang is trying out the Korean takes on the Philly cheesesteak, poutine, and the big mac, at Odd Seoul Toronto. kenshin142: Unfortunately the biggest issue with small restaurants in the downtown Toronto area is that they don't make enough income in the long run to cover overhead charged in that city. (ie property taxes, hydro, product, etc) Its really sad to see these kinds of places eventually be forced to closed down financially, because these people have a passion for the food they create, and providing hospitality to customers that are either members of the community or visitors to the city.

I am happy to see korean food in other countries but can they experiment with more flavors than just adding kimchi to everything? Its kind of like adding sauerkraut to everything and calling it modern german cuisine. As a Korean I love kimchi but Korean food is so much more than that. plus eating kimchi with bread is kind of. cringy?

Big Macs are terrible, probably the worst fast food sandwich you can get. 3 slices of bread, 2 tiny patties, 1 slice of cheese, and a ton of shitty iceberg lettuce. Even as far as McDonald's goes I'd take almost anything else on their menu over it. Big Macs trigger me.

I missed the part where there was anything resembling a Big Mac. The title doesn; t fit given that some people are calling the sandwich a Big Mac. The chef isn't calling it that or comparing the sandwich to it or trying to even emulate it.

THIS is what I love about Canada. This guy, is taking his love of the three countries in his life, and has created a business around it. He's not culturally appropriating anything. He's honouring Korea, Canada, and America. LOVE IT.

Puleeze, you think the best poutine is made in Toronto? Best Philly Cheese steak not in Philly? What else? Toronto has the best pastrami sandwich? The toilet water is so fine it is like drinking chardonay.

This Korean fusion food seems underwhelming, not worth an episode of its own. There have been shops around Ktowns in America thatve been making similar food for many years. Its tasty but not remarkable.

Leeto is looking like Matt or Matt is looking like Leeto. In the back of Matt's mind, he can't help but shake the feeling that he's looking in the mirror looking at Leeto, his Canadian counterpart.

Toronto reppin' hard. Love these guys. They do a Japanese place (Hanmoto, and a Vietnamese place (Pinky's Ca Phe, all with the same modern twists. All of them are freaking amazing.

I want to knock that squash poutine but dang it looks great. In fact, all three dishes sound and look delicious as hell. Best stop on Matt's Toronto tour hands down.
