When Olmsted, one of Eater NY s 38 best restaurants in the city, was forced to close its dining room during the pandemic, chef Greg Baxtrom sprang into action. He and his team pivoted to making 400 free meals a week for healthcare workers, preparing dishes for a food bank they set up, and transitioned the dining room into a trading post so the public can buy their supply of sauces, meats, wines, and help keep the business afloat. See what it takes for the restaurant to pivot to feeding people in need as well as the general public during a time when meals and groceries are tougher to get

Mass producing meals at 10 would be a business dream for any restaurant. These people seem awesome, but why are they being presented as charity? I'd say less than making food on a donation basis (or at least for like 3 a meal) would be worthy of food bank status. Can someone explain why paying my local Thai place for a 8 lunch special is different than a hospital paying 10 for a mass produced lunch?

This is confusing are the meals free or are they 10 dollars? Is this what the hospitals are doing with the extra covid money? Spending 10 dollars on lunch for one person?

Heartwarming nearly cried, the reality is that some working people can even afford to eat, its crazy to think that some people can't afford to eat
