Tres Leches Cake Recipe Pastel de Tres Leches Science of Baking Cakes: Tres Leches Cake: 2 Egg Yolks 4 Egg Whites 100 gr Sugar ( 1/2 cup ) 130 gr Milk ( 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp) 120 gr All Purpose Flour ( 3/4 cup + 1 tbsp) 1 tsp Baking Powder 1 tsp good Quality Vanilla 1/4 tsp Salt 1/2 tsp Lemon Juice ( or 1/4 tsp cream of tartar) Milk Bath: 80 gr Sweetened Condensed Milk ( 3 ounces) 100 gr Heavy Cream ( 3. 5 ounces) 100 gr Milk (3. 5 ounces) 1 tsp Vanilla Extract 1/4 tsp Salt Whipped Cream Topping: 250 gr Heavy Cream (9 ounces) 12 tbsp Sugar 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract NOTE: Leave the cake to soak for at least one hour. Traditional Tres Leches is served directly in its baking tray with the excess milk. You can either serve it that way, or transfer it onto a platter like I did. It's up to you, depending what texture you prefer. Top/ serve the cake with berries. This recipe makes 6 portions and I used a 7 inch pan: )

Wow this looks so simple & delicious. i was curious if u have a recipe for a vegan version of this just as simple? I'm gonna use this recipe but I'm gonna use coconut milk, almond milk, and soy milk with coconut sugar added to the milk bath mixture. When I bake cakes I use mashed banana or applesauce for the egg replacement and it always works perfectly, so I'm wondering how it would work with this recipe? Rum is also delicious added to the milk mixture - I love mango and peaches with the tres leches cakes.

I tried making homemade tres leches cake for the first time today using this recipe. I used a mixture of cream, low fat condensed milk and 1% milk since that was what I could get my hands on. I have to say, it was extremely good. I could definitely taste the vanilla and the texture after soaking it for one hour reminded me a bit of bread pudding, but spongier. All in all, I'm definitely saving this one and I can't wait to try the chocolate version.

I just made this today for my birthday. Thank you Emma! It's delicious. Everyone loved it! I served mine on a platter too but i put the trimmed edges back into the pan and enjoyed them. HA! Question for you. If I want to make twice the size of the cake, can I just double each ingredient? Thanks again!

Hi Emma, I made this recipe, but it didn't bake very well. So a 160 degrees Celsius is 320 degrees Fahrenheit, which is what I put for my over. However, every other tres leches recipe I looked at said 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Do you think that my cake didn't bake well, because of this?

I have made this today, surprisingly without the milk bath, the cake itself was so fluffy and delicious, probably the best sponge cake i have ever had. Then after i added the milk bath, it's heaven! Thank you emma -

I am literally making this today. My cake looks somewhat like yours(the cake doesn-t look as fluffy as yours and it sank a bit more than expected) and I am waiting for an hr so I can put the cream on top and serve it.

Love this recipe ----2 questions though. - For the whipped topping, is it regular granulated sugar or confectioners sugar! -Can you use this whipped topping recipe to make the more stabilized whipped cream?
