1: 38 - the rest of the ingredients, most of which you will already have in your pantry. Ha. Ha. HA. As if Chef Jeezy doesn't know that the core of his fanbase is here to a) gawk at beautiful food b) listen to his beautiful voice c) never cook a single one of these things one single time in their whole goddamn lives. HA, I say. P. S: great video, Chef John. Wah Ustaad meaning hail the master in Hindi/Urdu.

That's a great idea, Chef John I can see adding sesame seeds or even better fukikake rice seasoning to the top before serving, too. I'd wash the rice to get the starch off so it's not as mushy. Maybe use some mayo in the dressing to give it a bit more richness and like someone mentioned tossing a fried egg on top. mmmm

Rice balls = onigiri. or as they used to call it in the DUBBED Pokemon anime- donuts. I'm an inveterate rice washer- as a biological product, you'll find that there are often. stowaways, as i found with a mysterious flying insect infestation after getting a batch of co-op rice.

So I have a question. Whenever I make jasmine rice, the bag instructions say to bring the water to a boil, then put in the rice, lower the heat and cover for 15 mins. Is it better to let the water come to a boil with the rice in it or wait until the water is boiling?

Pretty spooky, I made this exact recipe an hour ago and thought it something I just free styled myself with what was left in my pantry. I even used the same hot sauce. Anyway, great recipe and thanks for the video.

I've made something similar. Made a garlic oil, heated some shrimp and peas in it, mixed with rice and seasoned with black pepper and soy sauce. Also, the name for the Japanese riceballs is onigiri.
