I ve gotten many requests for a Hawaiian pizza video, but an angry mob of food bloggers surrounding my home carrying torches and pitchforks is the last thing I need. I may be exaggerating, but in certain circles, pairing ham and pineapple on pizza is considered a crime against nature, so this amazing sweet and savory grilled flatbread may be as close as I get. David: Despite my traditional pizza background, I'm calling this pizza! Had ham & pineapple pizza in Seattle many years ago and it rocked me to my core. it was so good! Have all the ingredients for his subbing peaches or nectarines for the pineapple so I'll go with one of those first then evaluate.

I might go a step further and put a thin smear of macerated fig on the flatbread before topping it with the prosciutto and pineapple, then finishing it with a drizzle of olive oil and some crumbled feta cheese and a few well placed drops of balsamic vinegar.

As an Italian we rely on a fresh summer fare of cantaloupe and fab prosciutto from Monte Peglia. In winter, cantaloupe not available so we make do with pineapple. No flat bread, plain, simple, effective stuff. Greetings from Bettona!

I like ham and I like pineapple but not in the same dish. So basically I don't like a sweet ham. Ham is ruined with brown sugar, cloves and pineapple. When I eat ham all I want is the flavor of a nicely cured smoked ham.

The tough core that is usually thrown out is usually the best part of the pineapple, especially in the inner most part. Try eating it with a sprinkle of black salt and slices of a medium hot chilli pepper.

That flat bread looks great, and I will have to try it with those toppings. But I think I would also have to make one with sour cream, prosciutto, basil as well. Somewhat close to Flammkuchen I guess though.

It looks amazing, but somehow the texture of most grilled fruits including pineapples is really off putting to me, which is also my only problem with Pizza Hawaii, but to each their own!

This is a manufactured, fake controversy. Literally any food item that is salty complements a food item that is sweet. The same goes for spicy and sweet, sweet and sour etc etc.

The Hawaiian pizza was invented in Chatham Ontario Canada. Others may not like pineapple on a pizza, but we Canadians love it. So the rest of you just suck it up snowflake.
