The reason some people still use checks is if you re low on funds you can bounce a check to eat. You can t do that with a debit/credit card because they get declined right away.
I grew up POOR and this is what my mother would do to feed us when things were dire. We may not have had power that week but we still had food.

Objection your honor! chef John
Absolutely NO salt when cooking potatoes.
if you hence want to make mashed potatoes. in some kind of dish
the result is inevitable: glue!
made this mistake. spesially when I was to pass my exam to be a professional cook.

A related question: Why do people who pay with checks always wait until their items are rung up and the final total is displayed before they begin filling out their checks? Seriously, fill it out while the cashier scans your cart and just write in the amount at the end.

I'm gonna make this! But as far as it as a Thanksgiving mashed potato, will it's virtues be lost with gravy? I was actually considering trying your Potatoes Romanoff for this year's feast.

Chef John, it s because checks take longer to clear. People use them so that their money isn t being deducted on the spot from their account like a debit card does.

Sir, you are a joy for the ears and a torturer for the eyes. Now I want to try making Chantilly Mashed Potatoes and I know it's going to end badly.

I made them as a side dish with my roasted lamb and everybody went wild. I was glad I made plenty because my guests couldn't get enough of it.

Yummy! Fluffiness probably works the same way butter works in croissants; the water in the cream/butter turns to steam in the oven.
