With all due respect, this recipe is completely WRONG for true crab dip. All you need is cream cheese, mayo, Old Bay, ground mustard, shredded mild cheddar (orange) and lump crab meat.
Leave out all of the other garbage ingredients like ketchup, lemon juice, Worcester sauce, paprika, salt & pepper, hot sauce (seriously, cayenne (not a chance, white cheddar (only use regular orange shredded mild cheddar -- and ONLY added to the top before baking, and finally. no onion and/or chives EVER!
True traditional crab dip from the east coast.

Yeah i am in MD and and i was thinking that didn t look fresh. Oh and by the way every now and again i sub in sea bass or snakehead for crab. They are so mild white and flaky no one seems to be able to tell the difference.

Chef John dissing people who make a distinction between stuffing and dressing is a cover for his insistence that a spread made with sweet potato or white beans is still hummus.

Marylander here. We forgive your use of canned crab. Tbqh the fresh stuff is both scarce and here too and probably has been that way for 10+ years.
Fellow MDers back me up

I always laugh when Americans say tunafish. There is NO OTHER type of tuna, so the fish part is completely unnecessary. It's like saying, I'd like a chickenbird sandwich.

Your videos would be greatly enhanced by tasters who would provide appropriate commentary/gustatory groans of delight. I will offer myself as a volunteer.

I love it! I might add some cheaper claw meat to get extra crab in there without breaking the bank, like I do with Chef John's Crab-Tomato Bisque.

Orange cheddar makes every dish looks like a junk food. White cheddar is way to go, always. Bonus point if it is British cheddar

The Old Bay is a must but the most expensive lump crab meat is not required for crab dip save the best for your crab cakes.

If you have any leftovers, I doubt you will but if you do, this is delicious on top of a hamburger or a soft pretzel
