Don t listen to chef John about chilling your cookie dough! It DOES make a huge difference! Your cookies will be much better if you chill the dough for one hour before scooping and chill the dough again for another 30 minutes prior to baking them. My daughter and I have been making cookies all month and this is the best way and comes out with the best results for all kinds of cookies. We made chocolate chip cookies both ways and the dough is easier to scoop fresh so you d chill the scooped dough for at least an hour. The other cookies like the sugar cookies and the lofthouse cookies have to be chilled to keep the shape and softness. I found a Christmas cookbook with so many different recipes for Christmas treats and we ve been making all kinds of things.

I have a chocolate chip recipe I modified that produces cookies that everyone loves. At the suggestion of our condos' concierge I added cooked bacon bits to some of last batch and got a surprisingly good reaction. Now, I'm going to have to add potato chips. But first, I'll follow Food Wishes' recipe to the letter. Maybe tomorrow I try this.

The other day I was in a different head space, lets say that, and I was eating ruffles potato chips and pancakes at the same time, the sweet and savory worked so well it gave me the idea to add ruffles to my pancakes. And now I saw this video and I know know that im not crazy! Chips and dessert works

There's a Japanese chocolate company named Royce that do a chocolate-covered potato chip (there are 3 variants I believe, which are dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate. I guess those would be a great potato chip for this recipe. It will also replace in part the chocolate chips.

So in the 80's, my family made a lot of these with Rice Krispies. I assume it was to make the dough go further (they were pretty good but not as good as a regular chocolate chip cookie. I'm definitely going to try this. Not holding back on the chocolate however. That's just me baking!

I have a quick butter softening trick for you chef john. If you are wearing a pair of sports pants or shorts just put the butter in your pockets. Your body temp will bring the butter to perfect softness, without melting them, in about 20 min.

Of course! PB&J is much improved with a layer of thin-ish potato chips in the middle. How could the same not be true for chocolate chip cookies? Thank you Chef John. I will be making these ASAP, although possibly with milk chocolate chips.

I too lack the foresight to take my butter out and let it get to room temp but I ve had success with microwaving the butter for 10 second blasts at half power, rotating the stick onto another side until it s soft.

I've had these before and they are quite good. One time we made some oatmeal raisin cookies but used chocolate covered raisins instead. They came out fantastic! I wonder how they'd be in this recipe?

My mom made a recipe for these a couple of times.
I'm wondering how these would be with butterscotch chips instead of chocolate chips to get a fast try at a salted caramel type cookie.

They look really, really good! For me, definitely will add an extra chip or two! Just wondering about chilling for a better texture. Chilling improves the texture in what way exactly?

. a touch of white sugar
proceeds to dump the daily consumption of small island states into the mixture
But those cookies look delicious, they might be worth the heart attack.

Going to try this. I make a standard type, but the people who eat the regular one (the ones you alluded too, seem to run me out in 2 hours. maybe they'll like these even better

I genuinely believe there are now bowls big enough for mixing dough. there are only bowls which are always just a tad bit too small. this must be some kind of state conspiracy

Has anybody ever bought a bag of potato chips that didn't have an abundance of pre-crushed chips in the bottom. The potato chip manufacters should put this recipe on the bag.

I totally get this. When me and my siblings were young we would let our chocolate ice cream get soft and stir it smooth then crush up potato chips in it. Sooooooo good!

Have you lost your dang mind? Ok, having said that I do remember eating chocolate chip cookies and kipper from a can once. In my defense I was in the back country.
