No, absolutely no. I'm pushing back on that 'lot of sugar' nonsense in the peanut butter. Basically ALL of your commercially available smooth peanut butter has 2 grams of added sugar per serving. That's less than 1/2 teaspoon per 2 TABLESPOONS of peanut butter. You're adding a full CUP of sugar to the recipe that only has 1/3 cup of peanut butter. You're adding a grand total of 1. 33 teaspoons more sugar to a recipe with a cup of sugar in it. You. Are. Never. Going. To. Notice.
Especially since we're measuring the sugar by volume and not weight. It's absurd to push people into needing to buy less shelf stable natural peanut butter to make these over an incredibly minute difference in sugar.

1: 07 I always make a print out of Chef John's recipes. First time I make it, I follow it religiously. Then if I have any personal preferences, I will use a mechanical pencil to make notes at the bottom to change some things for next time. If I prefer those changes, I cross out and apply them to the measurements or directions. This customised the recipe to my personal taste. There are a lot of peanut butter brands, textures, and such out there. So might get a small notebook for this one to record all the differing results and which ones need differing amounts of sugar.

I have peanut butter which needs to be finished soon, and bananas going brown, and a rainy weather that matches warm muffins with tea. guess this recipe came at a perfect time
Edit: Came back to say the recipe is very delicious, so fluffy and not very banana-y or sweet. I changed half of the flour for oat flour for a little more fiber. Also, don't skip the chocolate chips! They make all the difference.

My food wish would be deep fried sushi rolls. I'm a Cali roll girl but I replace the salmon with cream cheese I use cucumber carrot cream cheese and avocado. My favorite sushi roll now I want to taste it fried with the beloved pickled ginger. Yummy and I bet if fried it's double yummy.

Egg yolks have an enzyme that ripens bananas so if your bananas are underripe you can mash them with one of the yolks from the eggs and let sit for 30 minutes before using. Just add the leftover whites with the remaining egg.

My grocery store has a ugly/too small/almost bad discount self in the produce section. They frequently have ready-to-go bananas. No waiting required and they are half the price. Banana bread days are good days.

I know I am a weirdo because of this but I hate bananas and have never had banana muffins or bread. Is the taste of bananas very prominent in this recipe It looks delicious but not sure about the bananas.

It's fun to still see all the comments about his voice. I was weirded out by his voice at first, but it grew on me over time. that happened 11 or 12 years of watching his videos ago. Where did time go. Sheesh

Simple is best!
Also, I looked up the following in grams because it's difficult to measure this in volume.
6 tablespoons (85g) unsalted butter, softened
1/3 cup (83g) plain smooth peanut butter

Recipe looks Great! But, if you eat peanut butter and bananas, Don't go outside at night, in the summertime. It attracts mosquitoes.
I learned that when I was a little kid, in 1963. On TV!

Sometimes I don't feel like watching but I always like and save for later Chef John's recipes. This man has saved me from starvation and resignation to bland food so many times I'll be eternally grateful.

If only there had been some kind of hot spicy component to give the chocolate a little more pop and of course it would have enhanced the banana esters as well. We shall never know.

Save freckled bananas until ready to use by peeling and freezing them. They might bleed sugary juice when defrosted, but no worry. Just use entire fruit with the juice.

The chocolate chips sound great, but I’m allergic to peanuts and bananas so guess I’ll have to pass on this one. However, if you can eat them, I am sure they are tasty!

My mom used to make the best banana bread and used the blackest bananas. Miss her. Everyone, and I mean everyone loved her banana bread and couldn't believe how good they were.

Chef John, I've Found That If You Want Ripe Bananas( Without The 2 or 3 Day Wait, Try Buying At 7Eleven.
Under Most Days, You'll Find Very, Very Ripe Bananas.

As someone who doesn't like any bananas except green ones, you'd THINK I'd have a great time, not needing to wait. But I can't actually find green bananas anymore.

'A little touch of sugar' followed by a 5 lb. bag. we gotta get away from using so much refined sugar in everything. Does it really add that much to a muffin
