IF YOU REALLY WANT, GETTING ALL NUTRIENTS, YOU WILL HAVE TO EAT THEM RAW. IF YOU TAKE YOUR SWEET POTATOES FOR THE OVEN, YOU WILL LOSE ALL NUTRIENTS. Take for example the tomato and broccoli. According to research levels of vitamin C decreased by 10 % if tomatoes are boiled for two minutes and 29% if they are boiled for half an hour at 88 C. This is because vitamin C is unstable because it is easily degraded by oxidation, exposure to heat and cooking in water. But the broccoli has the enzyme ( myrosinase ) destroyed by heat, and it is important to break the glicosinatos, anticarcinogenic substance present in vegetables. Thus broccoli should not be done, but, scalded in boiling water. Thus, nutrients and functional substances are preserved.

You see, I'm looking at this as a non-vegetarian who's trying to eat less meat, but it just doesn't appeal to me. It doesn't help that mushrooms are the one food I really don't like (I'm otherwise an extremely unfussy eater. I tried Jamie's vegetarian chilli with sweet potato the other day and that was absolutely delicious - can't see why I'd want to use mince in it. A shepherd's pie though is all about that rich, savoury gravy and buttery, slightly crispy mash. I've been making it with half the amount of mince and substituting lentils and that works. Still, not everything will appeal to everyone. Looking forward to check out more vegan/vegetarian recipes. .

What! You absolutely CANNOT cook with flaxseed oil, ever! It has the lowest smoke point of all oils - it literally burns if you cook with it - and releases cancerous free radicals. Such a dangerous mistake, especially when it comes from an authority in the cooking world. (Jamie may not be cooking in this video, but it's branded with his name)

Made this for my carnivore family! They liked it for the most part. I thought it was very good. I recommend buying smaller sized potatoes- I used 4 big ones and they took more than an hour to cook all the way through. Overall very easy to make! My family couldn't tell it was vegan. Would be awesome as a side dish

Thank you otsukare sama for the chopping! All the colours of the rainbow. Getting MS changed my life. for the better. My body just said; STOP the junk about ten years ago. Lots of asparagus, throw in cauliflower, broccoli and buckwheatto avoid legumes. I am so excited.

Instead of just putting a dislike, i'm going to tell you why I didn't like this. I found it extremely bland. Perhaps my taste buds require more flavour. I don't know. But if you like a very flavourful meal don't be afraid to add more taste and sauciness to this recipe.

The really interesting thing is, when he said he got cramps while chopping onion. That should have raised a flag for him. It did for me. Like, what, cramps? A vegan diet is great for some, just not others. Now I learn that he gave up the vegan diet.

Followed this recipe to a t. I tried looking for a word to describe the taste and I couldn't, until my dad tried it. Farmy. very farmy, and not in a good way. This recipe in particular almost makes me want to eat meat again: /

Just found your videos today and I am really enjoying what you are putting out there. I just want to mention that flax oil should really only be used cold for salad dressing or what not. Its not for cooking and frying.

Instead of breadcrumbs, I used pumpkin seeds to make the dish gluten-free. Also, I used eggplant instead of mushrooms because my dinner guests had allergies. I loved it! Thank you so much for this healthy dish.
