I'd make it in a shallow roasting tray, just to increase the crust/filling ratio. (personal preference: no low-carb diets here ) Also to the guy who said it was too runny: Jamie has a recipe for a christmas turkey and leek pie. You sieve the contents before topping with the crust, leaving some of the creamy gravy behind. Then serve it on the side in a gravy boat when the pie is over fresh and crispy. Best of both worlds.

Nice recipe. simple but delicious I am Indian and there is a technique similar to pies in our kitchens called the dum I was wondering doing Indian dum dishes as a pie. Bizarre fusion! Pardon my silly ramblings. It's in my nature to obsess about food Once again, thanks for the nice post

Made this last night and it was good, however, my roux was runny. I am in the US so tried a chart for conversion. How much cream would I use? I used 2/3 cup cream and 12oz of broth. Is that too much?

Donal, I tried this but the cabbage came out horrendously soggy and the pastry caved in! Do you have any idea why this happened? Also will you have a meet and greet soon! You are too adorable!

Just as you put your bacon in the pot my mom started to cook some bacon. I just though for a minute ''What it this? Some kind of magic computer that sends the smell through to others? '': )

This looks amazing! Would you suggest layering puff pastry before adding the mixture into the casserole dish too. i'm guessing it would be too soggy; (

It would appear that I have the ingredients for this recipe, and I'm in charge of dinner tonight; guess we're having (turkey) bacon and cabbage pie!
