It had never occurred to me that puffballs would get that big, or apparently that solid. I do wish he'd sliced up the whole thing so I could have seen what it looked like in the middle. Anyway, the puffballs in my neighborhood are tiny compared to that, no more than about an inch and a half across. And they are called puffballs for a reason. They have a thin-walled, balloon-like body surrounding a spore-containing cavity. I had heard puffballs were edible, but until now I had no idea why anyone would want to eat them. :)

Now that's what cooking is all about! To WOW your eaters/tasters. Who would have thought there could be such a beautiful and gigantic mushroom out there. You have made me hungry, so I guess mission accomplished?

Who doesn't love Gennaro with an assistant? Interesting dish. Portobello mushroom which are very available, might be a good substitute for puff ball mushrooms, which are unavailable. Blessings ChefMike

Now show us how to make it with regularly available store-bought mushrooms Genaro. Puffballs are awesome but grossly impractical most places.
