I've been using the bag method for years and I'll never go back. I used to always inject the bird with chicken broth to try and keep it moist, so the first time I used the bag I did that and there was so much juice in the bottom of the bag, the bottom of the bird fell apart. No need to inject when using the bag. -- Tip for the stuffing, get some cheese cloth and line the inside of the bird with it and then stuff. When the bird is done you won't have to scoop out your stuffing. The cheese cloth forms a bag of stuffing that you can just pull out. It guarantees that you get all the stuffing out of the cavity.

Stuffing is another reason people wind up with dry birds. In an attempt to get the stuffing up to proper temperature, it sacrifices the breast section to dryness. It also makes for a longer cook, because the stuffing acts like insulation against the sides and it ALSO cuts the airflow through the inside of the bird completely off. I myself could NEVER get a large enough bird to provide all the stuffing I need to for my hungry crew, so, I just make it on the stove top.

could you spray water in the bag take out excess water and then shack shack shack the flour around so it sticks to bag better or more evenly, idk, the reason i ask is that i've never seen that method and its my first time cooking a turkey for thanksgiving and yes i am a dude who thinks more is better and pouring beer on stuff makes it taste better which it does not. so anyways cool, thx, happy holidays.

i two have that same seized turky and am trying too cook it in a way simular to yours also wuth the turky bag my qestion to you is how long did it realy take to cook? like the approximate oven cook time? was it the same as box or did it take longer and whats the easist way to check if its done without completly damaging the integrity of the turky bag

I like how you put the seasonings under the skin. lots of yummy seasonings! ! I usually love making my turkey in my big roasting pan. you dont even need to put it in a bag. I always use wine because thats how we always had ours. I might do a video on it. when my voice comes back I hope. lol

I have 3 tips tips for juicy moist breast meat. 1. buy Butterball, (Cos they've already been brined, 2. bake uplifted from the roasting pan with a V rack and fill pan halfway with chicken broth! (Think of it as a ban Marie) and 3. baste every 30 min. I've never had a dry Turkey ever?

One way to avoid a dry bird. Instead of letting your turkey reach 165 DF internal in the OVEN, pull it out at 155 and let it finish cooking on the countertop to 165. Lightly tent, if you wish, but you should wind up with a nice bird!

I've cooked my turkey in a bag for several years - never disappoints! If you use the drippings for gravy, you can also add a few celery stalks and sliced onions to the bottom of the bag for extra flavor. Happy Thanksgiving!
